Connecting Well

Connecting Well Connecting Well Counseling is dedicated to helping marriages, families, individuals and organizations.

Connecting Well is the vision of Nancy Langford, M.Ed., Licensed Mental Health Counselor and her husband William B. "Terry" Langford, M.A., Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Together they are building a unique team of professionals to accomplish the mission of strengthening families. Nancy has a strong background in providing counseling, teaching, training, and consulting to parents, educators, marriages and families. Her passion for children with challenges and bringing out the hidden strengths in children makes her a unique resource and a much sought after expert by parents, teachers, counselors and child advocates. Her professional background includes classroom teaching, counseling, and homeschooling mom for 25 years to their 5 children; 2 adopted from the US, 2 bio-kids, and 1 adopted from China. Terry has been a pioneer in the field of Christian counseling in Central Florida. His extensive background in both outpatient and inpatient hospital behavioral health, corporate team building, consulting, training, military marriage and family life consultant and critical incident stress debriefing brings a firm foundation to the vision of Connecting Well. He is the creator of Celebrate Family, a fun event for families incorporating "edutainment" with substance to strengthen families. Both Nancy and Terry have been trained in working with adoptive families through TCU's Child Development Center's Trust-Based Relational Intervention, as well as the Adoption Competent Counselor training through the state of Florida.

Hope for the Journey Conference:

Friday, May 3, 2024, 9 am - 4 pm.

Sponsored by Show Hope, the Hope for the Journey Conference is offered each Spring as a simulcast conference. Designed to equip and encourage parents and caregivers meeting the needs of children impacted by adoption and/or foster care, although concepts taught are valuable for any parent, grandparent, teacher, youth worker, friend, or professional. Adults often find insight into their own attachment histories and the role it plays in their relationships.

Topics include how trauma affects the brain, attachment styles, sensory processing, and core concepts of TBRI: trust-based relational intervention. The conference helps understand how to rebuild and repair ruptured attachments in relationships. Part of Show Hope’s focus is also strengthening the church in being trauma-informed and competent in care.

With new faces, new stories, and new insight, the 2024 Hope for the Journey Conference will structurally mirror previous conferences with five high-level, focused learning modules as well as opportunities to go deeper on select topics within each module topic. The Hope for the Journey Conference will also continue to build on TBRI principles and how those principles intersect with our faith.

You are welcome to come. We all need “Hope for the Journey” as we seek to journey well with our children and families.

The Hope for the Journey Conference began more than a dozen years ago as a two day in-person conference, “Empowered to Connect.” Recently it has been offered each Spring as a streaming conference to enable churches to reach a larger audience. Sponsored by Show Hope, the Hope for the Journey Conference is designed to equip and encourage parents and caregivers meeting the needs of children impacted by adoption and/or foster care. Concepts taught include how trauma effects the brain, attachment styles, sensory processing, and core concepts of TBRI (trust-based relational intervention.)

Although geared toward adoptive and foster parents, Hope for the Journey is valuable for any parent, grandparent, teacher, youth worker, friend, or neighbor. Many professionals attend and gain insights, strategies, and helpful tools for working with people. Adults often find insight into their own attachment histories and the role it plays in their relationships.

The conference helps understand how to rebuild and repair ruptured attachments in relationships. Part of Show Hope’s focus is strengthening the church in being trauma-informed and competent in care.

In other words, you are invited. Please tell others about this too. We all need “Hope for the Journey” as we seek to journey well with our children and families.
