⚡️Story time: As a young buckaroo I was primarily a catcher into college so as most catchers wonder… how hard could I throw as a pitcher?
⛽️Two years ago I started throwing for the heck of it and got to 85-86 just chucking with not much of a plan. The itch to train up to hitting a 90 mph formed from that and now that I have my own gym and space to throw, it seems like a good quarter life crisis challenge to try. Plus I tend to learn a lot about training (and maybe self rehab 😳) by doing things like this.
I did a force plate evaluation and noticed on my jump the overall height and RSI was good but my concentric peak force and my concentric impulse was quite low for my goal to grab a 90. I’m shooting for a concentric impulse of 150 (110 today) and a peak force of 2500N.
One area I don’t train very often is isolating the concentric portion of the rep and trying to focus on peak force output for a pause. I’m going to track over the next few weeks my force outputs and impulse output to see if adding in work like today can help me get a touch more “springy” and also if that spring helps with producing a bit more velo.
Comment below if you think I can get to 90 or if I’ll blow out first
