MicroGen DX Next-Gen DNA Sequencing for accurate microbial identification

04/25/2026

Today we celebrate the science that makes NGS testing a reality:

1️⃣ 1953: Discovery of the DNA double helix
2️⃣ 2003: Completion of the Human Genome Project

These two milestones led to an evolution in medical diagnostics, providing an alternative to mainstream 150-year-old culture testing 🧫

The MicroGenDX team is proud to carry that science forward, delivering precise answers to over 1 million people 🩺

Happy World DNA Day 🧬

Tomorrow at ISHLT 2026 in Toronto- we record.

Our first physician panel podcast of 2026, taped live on-site, features three transplant physicians:

• Dr. Aldo T. Iacono- Lung transplant pulmonology, Northwell Health. Presenting original research Friday afternoon.

• Dr. Yoichiro Natori- Transplant infectious disease, University of Miami.

• Dr. Joanna M. Schaenman- Transplant infectious disease, UCLA. Moderating the conversation.

The panel discusses diagnostic challenges in immunocompromised hosts, the complementary roles of NGS and conventional culture, and the future of post-transplant infectious disease diagnostics.

Episode releases in May.

Infertility affects 1 in 6 couples with men's fertility potential showing involvement in nearly half of those cases. Yet in 30% of male fertility-linked cases, no cause is ever identified.

New peer-reviewed research from UCLA & MicroGenDX is starting to change that and is indicating a new pathway affecting male fertility.

Using Next-Gen DNA Sequencing (NGS), researchers studied the semen microbiome of 73 men and found specific bacteria associated with reproductive disruption were affecting s***m.

Men with abnormal s***m motility had significantly higher levels of Lactobacillus iners — linked to reproductive disruption in women. This study implicated it in men for the first time.

Men with abnormal s***m concentration showed higher levels of Pseudomonas fluorescens and P. stutzeri, species that are invisible to most standard tests.

For men with unexplained infertility, the answers may be there. Just untested for.

There is a gap between when a molecular diagnostic result is ready and when the physician ordering it has it in hand. We built the Provider Portal to close that gap- and version 2.0 addresses it more directly.

The app now opens to your requisitions list. Search is expanded to Patient Name, Doctor Name, NPI, and Organization Address. Sample Receipt and Report Ready push notifications mean the result reaches you rather than requiring a login. In-app Customer Service is available for questions about specific results.

Available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

57% of UTIs are caused by bacteria resistant to at least one type of antibiotic and that number climbs with every repeat infection, which is typical of chronic UTIs.

You deserve a test that helps you end this cycle 🧬

MicroGenDX screens for the cause of your UTI and 17 types of drug resistance.

Each report also includes a list of antimicrobials for your doctor to consider for use, grounded in trusted clinical reference resources such as the Sanford Guide and Johns Hopkins Guides.

Trena, thanks for sharing your story with us 💙
