I’m Althea Stearns the owner of Athlete Recovery Room. I want to share with you my knowledge and experience of staying physically active & healthy from over 20 years of running. You can count on me to do the research and provide great advice for your recovery needs, to help you have better quality of life and be a healthier happier athlete. If I can’t help you, I have a great network of professionals who love helping people.

I believe recovery is one of the most underutilized tools of many athletes. Our philosophy at Athlete Recovery Room is to address recovery proactively, before you experience any issues or pain. We will be offering quite a number of services. Some of them include:
Manual therapy using foam rollers, Roll Recovery, trigger point therapy tools
Cold (Ice Bath) and Contrast (Hot and Cold) therapy
Infrared Sauna
Massage Therapy
My passion for endurance running started over 10 years ago while running with MarathonFest, a local marathon and half marathon training program organized by Track Shack (Orlando’s best running store and resource). Since then I’ve been a pace group leader with MarathonFest off/on over those 10+ years, which has enabled me to learn so much about endurance training and the importance of recovery. I love learning from others and sharing my knowledge. I have Road Runners Club of America Coaching Certification (Apr 2017) and well read in many of the endurance training theories and recovery therapies.
In my running career I’ve ran 51 marathons. 50 of those were ran within 10 years. In one year I ran 7 marathons including a double marathon (Saturday and Sunday). So I know recovery is important. Right now I’m focusing on the 10K distance, but training to run faster. Recovery is just as important when doing speed work as it is for endurance activity. Especially if you haven’t done a lot of speed work in the past.
Just like you I balance my running with a job. Stress is another contributor to how you feel and recovery from stress should be addressed. My past 20 years, I’ve been working at Lockheed Martin as a Subcontract Manager responsible for managing suppliers providing complex subsystems. During this time I’ve developed a lot of good problem solving skills. I’m really good at asking questions to determine the root cause of issues to identify appropriate corrective actions to resolve those problems. Finally, I’m a graduate from UCF , with a MBA and BSBA.
