Is your sleeve MANGLED!? Asking for a friend, because this one was. 😳

This is a real case study of a patient who had a sleeve gastrectomy performed elsewhere by a surgeon who is highly respected internationally in our field. Which is why what I found inside her abdomen was so disturbing.

The sleeve was misshapen, narrowed, twisted, and surrounded by an abnormal amount of scar tissue. I have seen thousands of sleeves in my career and very few have ever looked this poorly constructed. The only explanation I can imagine is that this was performed by someone still in training, without proper supervision because no board-certified surgeon specializing in bariatric surgery would allow this type of anatomy to be the final product.

Even worse?

She woke up, was told “it’ll get easier,” and was never truly heard.

If YOU feel like your sleeve is “off”:

❌You’ve struggled to eat “normally”
❌You have chronic nausea or vomiting
❌ You have difficulty swallowing
❌ You have severe acid reflux
❌ You never lost the weight you expected
❌ You’ve felt dismissed or ignored

Please know this: you are not crazy, and, unfortunately, you are not alone.

At , we specialize in corrective and revisional bariatric surgery. Patients from around the world come to us for answers, relief, and long-overdue healing.

💻📱 We offer virtual consultations to review your anatomy, understand your symptoms, and create a personalized plan to get you back on track.

Food noise is that nonstop mental chatter about eating. 🤬

Those repetitive, intrusive thoughts about food that show up even when you’re not physically hungry. It’s the nagging urge, the pressure, the mental countdown until the next bite. It feels automatic, impulsive, and loud.

Food noise isn’t just “wanting a snack”. It hijacks your focus, decision-making, and peace. It can sabotage progress and create guilt, shame, or that familiar sense of being “out of control” around food. When food noise runs the show, your cravings, not you, are in charge.

One of the most life-changing benefits of bariatric surgery is that the food noise goes quiet, sometimes completely silent. The hormonal shifts, the reduced stomach volume, and the slower gastric emptying turn the volume way down. Suddenly, you’re not thinking about food all day.Peace. Mental stillness they haven’t felt in years.

But Then… That Little Whisper Comes Back
Weeks, months, or years later, you might notice a faint whisper.

A little chatter.

This is food noise creeping back in, not because you failed, but because your body reacts to stress, skipped meals, hormones, emotional triggers, poor sleep, and old neurological pathways.

If you’ve had bariatric surgery and the food noise creeps back in, a whiff of a GLP-1 medication like Tirzepatide or Semaglutide may be the perfect tool to silence it again.

For many patients, these medications quiet cravings, numb intrusive thoughts, shut down the urgency and restore that post-op “mental silence”.

It’s like flipping the lights off. Everything goes black again.

Quiet. Calm. Still.

You deserve that peace.

Your stomach is distensible, meaning it can stretch to hold up to 75 times its empty volume prior to ! 😲

Whether you had or not, if you’re feeling uncomfortably full, here are some quick tips to help you find relief:

🚨 PRO NAUSEA TIP: Vitamin B1 (Thiamine)! 🚨

Save this or forward to a friend that might be struggling with nausea for unknown reasons. It could take a simple fix!

As a Bariatric Surgeon with 13 years of experience, I’ve seen patients struggle with nausea after surgery. Sometimes, especially in the early post-op period, we go through an extensive workup including CT scans with contrast, upper GI swallow studies, and endoscopies (EGD) and everything comes back normal. No strictures, no leaks, no clear technical or mechanical reason for the constant nausea and spitting.

Then I ask, “Are you taking your vitamins?” And the answer? No, because they feel too nauseous.

This creates a vicious cycle. A Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) deficiency can cause nausea, vomiting, and weakness. But because they feel nauseous, they skip their vitamins, which makes the deficiency worse. If left untreated for an extensive period of time, it can progress to serious neurological issues like Wernicke’s encephalopathy.

If you’re admitted for nausea after surgery, you should receive a “banana bag” (it’s yellow 💛) through an IV to start replenishing your levels. But prevention is key so take your bariatric multivitamin daily and add extra Vitamin B1 if needed.

If you’re struggling with nausea, don’t just assume it’s normal. Listen to your body, take those vitamins, and get your thiamine levels checked!
