ABA assessment isn’t just intake paperwork. It’s the foundation for ethical, individualized, care. It’s so much more than filling out a checklist of skills. It’s about determining what treatment is medically necessary to improve someone’s functioning and quality of life.

A few reminders this document reinforces:
• Treatment intensity should be based on individual clinical need, not age or diagnostic label.
• Strong assessment draws from multiple sources (caregiver report, records, standardized tools, and direct observation).
• The focus should always be functional impact—how behavior affects safety, independence, participation, and daily life.

…and assessment is only the beginning.
