Remember the acronym HALT the next time you’re feeling unusually stressed or anxious. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you might just need a break or some help. You’re more vulnerable of making poor decisions with your words, actions, attitudes and just general decision making if you’re experiencing any of these symptoms. Stop and think. Do you find that you’re often just not yourself? Maybe easily irritated, sad or anxious? It’s okay to ask for help. It’s brave. Feel free to give us a call or make an appointment. You can go online at www.providencecounseling.org.

When two people are putting each other first, the needs of both are being met. Does your relationship need help? Feel free to give us a call or make an appointment. According to Oxford Learner’s Dictionaries, the word steadfast means “Firmly fixed in place; constant, unwavering, or resolutely loyal to a person, belief, or cause.” Therefore, when we are unwavering in our trust and faith in God, even when things are difficult, we will have perfect peace. Do you need someone you can talk with about having peace in your life even when things are difficult? Feel free to give us a call or make an appointment. You can go online at www.providencecounseling.org.

Emotions are part of who we are and not necessarily a bad thing, however they are to be managed not to be in charge. If we all walked around letting our emotions lead the way, we would behave like infants or very young children. A part of our brain manages our emotions, and another part manages our ability to have clarity of mind. When our emotions “take over” and try lead the way, our ability to think clearly is physically diminished. Calm down. Allow your clear thinking to lead in your decision making. Is anxiety, depression, or anger leading your life? Getting some emotions under control can be difficult. Do you need help? Feel free to give us a call or make an appointment. You can go online at www.providencecounseling.org.

Patience. Oh, this is a hard one at times. There are plenty of times when overlooking an offense is the best option. Extend some grace when needed. Maybe they are tired, hungry, or have had a terrible day. Take a deep breath, don’t take it personally. Walk away or just stay quiet. If a person consistently says or does hurtful things, that is different.

Do you need help improving your patience or knowing when to draw the line and stand up for yourself? Feel free to give us a call or make an appointment. You can go online at www.providencecounseling.org.

As we closed out January, we paused to say CONGRATULATIONS and a special thank you to Joshua Spavin for 10 years of service with Providence Counseling. Josh, thank you for having such a caring heart, a listening ear, and for always providing such calm, thoughtful insight.

Is there something you need to acknowledge and celebrate? It can be something big, or something small you have been working on. Celebrating small steps as well as big steps are important. Notice what you or someone you care about is doing well and say something positive about it. Do you need help finding something good to acknowledge in your life? Feel free to give us a call or make an appointment. You can go online at www.providencecounseling.org.
