Sometimes you really get reminded of the impact you can have on someone's life, whether you're a doctor curing an ailment, a realtor helping a couple with their first home, or an insurance agent helping someone get the coverage they desperately need.
Yesterday was one of those days.
Client reached out to me regarding his 33 year old son in Indiana who was planning back surgery back in January. During preliminary testing, they discovered he has stage 4 cancer. He asked about Medicaid here in Florida, which is pretty tough to qualify for. We also discussed a possible disability case, which can take a long time even with a great attorney. Then I suggested he speak to his tax advisor about having his son move to Florida, where he could care for him and claim him as a tax dependent. His tax advisor agreed, and I was able to add him to his wife's ACA plan, with a $0 deductible and very low out of pocket limit. He'll have the coverage he needs for treatment and medications while he fights this horrible disease.
I'm so grateful to have been able to help his son. It reminds me of the best part of my job, and it has absolutely nothing to do with a paycheck.
