Thinking about New Year’s resolutions? Here are small, realistic steps that make a BIG difference:

✔️ Swap one sugary drink for water
✔️ Add a 10‑minute walk after dinner or try 10 minutes of stretching
✔️ Choose a “Word of the Year” — like Strength, Calm, or Joy

Healthy habits don’t have to be overwhelming. Little changes, done consistently, set the foundation for a healthier year ahead. 💙

What’s your word of the year for 2026?

🎄✨ A Christmas Celebration of Growth at MCRHC ✨🎄

This Christmas season, we are grateful to share the gift of progress in our MCRHC Laboratory in Osage. Our staff and the MCRHC Board of Trustees gathered for a ribbon cutting to celebrate the expansion and the many improvements designed to enhance patient care.

🧬 Core Lab Improvements
• Our microbiology section now has its own dedicated room with an external ventilation system, improving safety and supporting high-quality testing.

💉 Patient Draw Area Enhancements
• Two patient restrooms are now located in the draw area, helping reduce wait times.
• The Lab now features three fully enclosed draw rooms, an increase from two, offering additional privacy and comfort for patients.
• The storeroom is set up for future conversion into a fourth draw room as needed.

Infant Draw Station
• Special thanks to the MCRHC Auxiliary for purchasing a wall-mounted infant draw station with access from three sides. This addition supports safer and more efficient care for infants.

These upgrades reflect our continued commitment to providing patient-centered, high-quality care for our community. We are grateful to everyone who made this project possible. 💙

Wishing a happy retirement to Barb Voight and Lynda Johnson, both in Patient Financial Services. What an incredible 25-year tenure for Barb and 46 years for Lynda!

Barb began her career at the St. Ansgar Clinic before coming to the PFS department at the hospital.

Lynda began her career at the Osage Clinic when it was located in the current Pine Street Pavilion parking lot.

Thank you for all the great memories and care for our patients!

The Polk County Health Department, in coordination with Iowa Health and Human Services, has confirmed a case of measles in an unvaccinated Polk County infant who was too young to be immunized.

While there are no confirmed measles cases in Mitchell County, we want to remind everyone of one simple step that helps keep our community safe:

👉 If you think you or your child may have measles, please call your healthcare provider before coming in. Calling ahead helps prevent potential exposure to others in healthcare settings.

❄️ Winter Wellness Tip: Stay Hydrated

Cold weather can actually increase your risk of dehydration. Dry air, indoor heat, and a reduced sense of thirst all make it easier to drink less than your body needs.

Quick tips:
• Sip water regularly, even if you’re not thirsty
• Add warm tea or broth for extra hydration
• Older adults should be especially mindful, as thirst cues decrease with age

Staying hydrated supports your energy, immune health, and overall wellness all winter long.
