The year 2025 was a positive one for our ambulance service. We received a grant to replace our aging roof and flooring, and also installed a new door entry system to enhance facility security. Furthermore, we upgraded our heating system to mini-split electric HVAC units. Our service maintained adequate staffing for both units during the Columbia Fire Company's 4th of July Celebration, the annual Mountain Top Fire Company Homecoming Celebration, and the 133rd Central District Fireman's Convention, including standby coverage for convention events. During this period, Ambulance 13-1 experienced engine failure, necessitating a motor replacement, which was efficiently completed by C&M Auto, returning the vehicle to service within two weeks. Throughout the year, our members completed continuing education hours to maintain EMS licensure and enhance community service. We participated in multiple parades and local community events throughout the summer including Kids Day during the 4th of July Celebration, Kids Day during Heritage Days, and the Osceola Mills Spirt Days. We also provided rehab services for a few strenous firefighting classes hosted by the Columbia Fire Company ensuring the well being of our local volunteer firefighters. Below are our 2025 EMS statistics. We anticipate continued improvement and transparency in 2026.

Yesterday, our EMS Chief and 2 EMTs attended a Man vs. Machine class instructed by P.L. Vulcan Fire Training Concepts LLC. This course explained how we can think outside the box and how to extricate people from impailed objects such as fences, rebar, etc. We also trained on skills to remove people trapped under vehicles, in augers, and ring removals from fingers (and other places rings probably shouldn’t be…….). These are emergencies we normally do not get but you can never be too prepared! It was a great class and a great learning opportunity to our region.

Our annual ambulance subscription drive is underway for 2026. We do third party billing. This means, when you are transported to the hospital by our ambulance, we will bill your health insurance provider for reimbursement. Most insurance companies only pay a percentage of the bill and will leave you with a great amount of out-of-pocket expense. By purchasing a membership, we will "write-off" any monies not paid by your insurance company in the event you need our EMS services. The bill is considered paid in full. Price for the membership is $75 for family (everyone who resides in your household), $50 for single, and $150 for a business (covers employees while only at the business). If you do not receive yours in the mail, please send us a message and we will mail one to you.

If you live in Sandy Ridge, Retort, Twigg Settlement, Osceola Mills, Newtown, Edendale, Ernestville, Spike Island, Coal Run, Stumptown, Frenchtown, Drane, Ashland, Osceola Mills part of Parsonville, Osceola Mills side of Morgan Run, Osceola Mills side of Sanborn, Phoenix Road, Dale Road, Rushton Road, you are within the primary Ambulance coverage area of Mountain Top. What this means is, we will be the Ambulance that arrives and transports you to the hospital in the event of an emergency UNLESS we are already on an emergency call. What this also means is you should purchase an ambulance membership from our company as we are your primary Ambulance Service.

In addition, in the event you have fallen, are not injured and cannot get up (lift assist only) and patient refusals, the fee for non-subscribers is $150 and the fee for subscribers is $75. These are considered non-billable to the insurance companies so the patient is responsible for payment.

By purchasing a subscription you are financially protecting yourself and/or your family. This is also our ambulance service biggest fund drive which maintains our service to have the necessary up to date life saving equipment needed to protect our community when needed. Please consider purchasing a subscription.

If you have questions, concerns, and/or suggestions please do not hesitate to give us a call at 814-339-7410 or message this page.

As always, thank you for your continued support!

Power restoration for Sandy Ridge area is projected to be by noon today. State St remains closed until repairs are completed.

***Update***
Power should be restored to most everyone now as of 11:00am.

Both poles are set and they are starting to rehang wires. Their estimate is noon if not a little before.

400 BLK of STATE ST in SANDY RIDGE is closed from BARRY ST to SHARPLESS ST due to a vehicle accident with wires and 2 poles down. Please find an alternate route.

Penelec is estimating power being restored by noon, but this is only an estimate and may be longer. Penelec was on scene evaluating and left in attempt to get other areas restored ASAP. Osceola Mills and Chester Hill should see power returning shortly if possible.

The fire hall is open to anyone that needs to keep warm and charge phones. Feel free to stop in.
