Yesterday, April 30, was Alex's 13th birthday!

He has continued to bounce through some medical challenges, but were confident his 13th year around the sun is going to be filled with health, happiness, and peace.

Alex and his family have been able to spend Christmas all together...and at home!!

He's been out of the hospital for about two weeks and is physically doing amazing. Alex will have to do one blood draw a week and not travel down to Riley as much!!! 🤗

We are so grateful for this Christmas gift!

While he is medically looking fantastic, the expenses related to his kidney transplant continue to incur. As you consider your end-of-year giving and reflection, we ask that you consider giving to COTA in honor of Alex's kidney: https://cota.org/campaigns/COTAforAlexsKidney

We will keep you all posted as we venture into the new year with other fundraising and campaigning efforts. ❤💚

Providing a little update for everyone in the herd --

Alex has been hanging out in Indianapolis for the last number of days. His medical team is continuing to work with him to balance out his bloodwork by continuing to help him with hydration and ensuring that his anti-rejection medication is just right to keep his kidney functioning the best it can be.

We also just want to add that this is a LOT for a kid of Alex's age (12) to go through. He's struggling with the balance of knowing that his body is functioning better while yearning for "normalcy" - nothing about 2020 has been normal, especially for a young kid who just wants to be home, able to be in school, and be around his friends.

What the family needs right now is lots of positive vibes, energy and prayers for mental and physical healing. 🐘🤍🐘

We've shared before that this journey is just beginning, let's let them know we're supporting them along the way through the ups and downs! Join us in sharing some fun pictures, stories, gifs, etc. and we'll keep coming together.

For Alex, the healing has just begun. Healing from something as significant as an organ transplant isn't just medical and physical... it's mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual. These are all REALLY BIG things for a 12 year old to navigate, something that many adults would struggle with. And for Alex, it's happening at a time when his body is already wrestling with hormones, emotions, independence, and identity.

Extending way beyond financial gifts, and likely most important, we hope that you join us in continuing to lift up Alex and his family in prayer, positive thought, and frequent conversation.

Alex is back down at Riley Hospital for Children , he and his mom got there yesterday. The amazing medical team continues to work to get his blood work and kidney function right where it needs to be. We're hopeful this is a quick trip and that he will back home soon.

This is a great representation of this journey. This is just the beginning for Alex.
