An MDS Coordinator is a nurse that is responsible for overseeing the federally mandated assessment and care planning process for every resident in a Medicare or Medicaid certified nursing facility. This process is used to evaluate the functional, medical, and psychosocial status of every resident. This position acts as a clinical resource and ensures the facility meets both CMS federal guidelines and Indiana specific Medicaid requirements. They have many tasks they tend to such as: resident assessments, interdisciplinary coordination, data submission & compliance, financial management/case mix, quality monitoring, and more.
