🧡🖤🧡 20 years ago today, the lives of these men were tragically cut short....the lives of their families and friends were forever changed.

Marc Neumeyer and Dan Melhorn, Winnebago County Highway Department employees, were killed on 03/07/2006 while working along what was known at the time as US 41 (since that time, the roadway has been reclassified as an Interstate).

These two fine men, highway workers, simply doing their jobs.... they should have been able to go home that day.

If the orange barrels and the construction zone signs are out, there is a good bet workers are out too, and they are often on foot, in areas where vehicles travel 70mph just a few feet away from where they are working.

Please, please, please first MOVE OVER or SLOW DOWN if you cannot, whenever you see the flashing lights of those working on the highway.
