After that…

I wouldn’t leave my mom’s side. I was hyper-aware of my surroundings and my gut was telling me something didn’t feel right.

For a while, I didn’t see the man, and I started to relax…until suddenly there he was again…this time walking up with the manager.

The manager explained that the man was actually store security. He had noticed I seemed uncomfortable and had stepped into the breakroom to give me space.

Looking back, I realize my instincts weren’t wrong…they just weren’t about danger.

I was picking up on subtle energy, tension and presence in the room.

As a highly sensitive person, I feel things deeply, even when the situation isn’t obvious to others.

My feelings were real…and they were confusing as hell…until I learned the tools to manage them.

Being highly sensitive isn’t about being “too emotional”, “dramatic” or “imaginative.”

It’s about noticing things beneath the surface, sensing energy and feeling deeply.

If this sounds like you and you need help understanding how to manage your sensitivity, my guide will help you.

I created this guide for empaths and the highly sensitive souls like us.

It’s packed with effective techniques and exercises to calm your nervous system, keep you grounded and start truly thriving.

Think of it as your personal toolkit for navigating life as a sensitive soul.

Comment ‘EMPATH’ and I’ll send you a link to the guide.

So glad you found me 🫶

And it’s more common than you think…

Self-harm (SH) isn’t attention-seeking or selfish.

Those who don’t SH might find it impossible to understand why someone would want to hurt themselves physically.

People who self-harm are battling emotional pain so overwhelming that they turn to physical harm as a way to cope.

It’s not about wanting to die, it’s about wanting to feel anything other than emotional pain.

It’s about wanting to gain some control over something.

Since my daughter started SHing, I’ve realized just how complicated this subject is.

Studies on SHing teens show lower levels of stress. The stress hormone, cortisol, is usually thought to be bad for us.

But it provides a sense of drive or even excitement for teens who SH.

SHing teens might be searching for normal levels of cortisol.

As for my daughter, she believes she’s ‘addicted’ to this behavior.

As bizarre as that may sound to others, I approach this subject with compassion, self-education and increasing understanding. Not judgment.

The most important part is breaking the stigma surrounding SH and mental health. Let’s break it together.

Let’s change the narrative around self-harm and offer understanding instead of judgment.

Let’s help create a world where people feel safe sharing so everyone can get the support they need and deserve.

P.S. If you’ve ever felt ‘too much’ for this world, you might be highly sensitive, like me. I’ve created a new guide for the highly sensitive and empaths. It’s filled with tips and techniques to navigate your sensitivity every day and start thriving as a sensitive soul.
