My father knew every staff member and almost every patient of HVIMG. His groundbreaking research in the 1980's on the role of cholesterol in heart disease was followed by his collaboration in developing low molecular weight heparin, now the standard for hospital anticoagulation of immobile or at risk patients, particularly elders. His keen mind and insatiable curiosity made him a great researcher, but his belief in the innate goodness of humankind made a great man and an inspiration to all who knew him.
