Babies don’t rely on vision at first — they rely on scent.

🧠 A newborn’s sense of smell is well developed at birth and helps them:
• recognize their parent
• find the bre.ast
• feel calm and secure

💡 When placed skin-to-skin, babies can actually crawl toward the bre.ast by following scent cues — a behavior called the bre.ast crawl.
