Have you ever experienced āspring feverā? Itās that seasonal restlessness, the surge of energy, and the lift in mood that comes as winter slowly gives way to spring. Growing up in the Upper Peninsula of Michiganāwhere winter snowfall often exceeded 200 inchesāspring fever was practically a rite of passage. When the snow finally began to melt, I would feel a rush of excitement, imagining all the possibilities the summer sun might bring. I was wrapped in the hope of what summer could bring.
But as wonderful as summer can be, those opportunities only become real if I actually step into them. When the ice finally melts off the lake, itās up to me to grab my fishing pole and cast it into the water.
In the same way that the sun stirs anticipation for the coming season, the power of God through His Son fills us with hope, joy, and peace by the Holy Spirit (see Romans 15:13). The difference is that the Spiritās power isnāt seasonal. It doesnāt fade or increase depending on the time of year. Godās presence and His love offer a steady, enduring peace and joy that carry us from season to season. When we wrap ourselves up in the hope of Godās constant presence, we realize Godās love isnāt seasonal-itās eternal!
