It is our staff's focus on wellness and helping residents remain independent that makes The Haven at Penn Place a wonderful place to call home. This is accomplished by providing a personalized plan designed for each resident's changing needs. There is not one ideal plan or one size fits all. The ideal solution is the one adjusted for each residents personal needs. Some may require help with daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, medication reminders, and more. These services are available in addition to the broad level of basic services that come with simply living at The Haven. The Haven at Penn Place is a certified assisted living community for persons with Alzheimer's and dementia-related challenges. We provide a secured area with an outdoor enclosed courtyard for those with tendency to wander. The hallways and common areas are simple and promote a sense of well being and calmness.

We understand that the recent closure of MercyOne Ottumwa Family & Internal Medicine may raise questions for many in our community. Please know that Pennsylvania Place remains fully committed to supporting our residents’ healthcare needs.

We are working very closely with physicians, providers, and healthcare partners throughout Ottumwa and surrounding communities to ensure our residents continue to have access to the best medical care. Providers who have previously served residents onsite have also assured us they intend to maintain their long-term relationships and commitments.
