Johnson County Department of Health and Environment and Johnson County, KS Government emergency alerts and Winter weather tips ❄️❄️.

Are you prepared for the extreme cold and snow this weekend? Here is what you can do right now to protect yourself and those most vulnerable (infants/young children, outdoor workers, older adults, people with chronic health conditions):

🔹 Stock up on emergency supplies, like batteries, water, medications, non-perishable food, items for children and pets.

🔹 Install a carbon monoxide detector. Never heat your home with a gas range or oven. Generators should only be used outside, far away from open windows or doors.

🔹 Limit outdoor activities. If you must be outside, dress in layers, take breaks to drink water and keep trips outside short.

🔹 If conditions are too cold, seek shelter with friends or at a community shelter. You can find a list of Johnson County, Kansas shelters here 👉 https://www.jocogov.org/winter-weather-guide
