Winnicott’s poignant paradox captures the tension between the desire for protection and the need for connection. By hiding parts of ourselves, we create a shield from potential judgment or rejection, but that can isolate us, leaving us yearning for the connection that comes from being truly seen.

There’s comfort in hiding, but the cost is disconnection. What if the real risk lies in not allowing ourselves to be seen and known?

Shame feels like being exposed, as though our flaws are laid bare for the world to see. Shame arises from how we perceive ourselves through the eyes of others. We fear judgment, rejection, and the sense that we are somehow not enough.

The feeling of inadequacy isn’t just yours—it’s part of the human experience. We all carry it. Healing from shame begins when we recognize that we are more than what we fear others see in us. 🌱

Whether it’s worrying about your partner leaving for someone else, feeling overshadowed by a colleague’s success, or noticing a friend’s new social circle… consider this: jealousy is about the anxiety of losing what you value. Reflect on what you value about the relationships or situations where you’ve felt jealous. Recognizing these values can offer understanding into your inner world and desires.

Friends not showing up when you needed support, a communication breakdown, or unreciprocated feelings—relational disappointments are inevitable. But they’re not just about what’s "wrong" with others; they offer insight into one's own feelings and needs. How do your relationships reflect the parts of yourself you're still working through?

It’s not uncommon to have mixed feelings about the therapy process—whether it’s hope, frustration, anxiety, or doubt. These emotions are not only natural but can be deeply meaningful.

In therapy, we view these feelings as windows into your inner experience. They may be linked to past relationships, unresolved conflicts, or unconscious fears and desires. Feeling frustrated or anxious about therapy might mirror similar feelings in other areas of your life. When these emotions surface, they present an opportunity to better understand the dynamics shaping your experiences.

Every emotion, even the uncomfortable ones, has something to teach us and can guide us toward greater self-understanding and healing.
