🌟 Tuesday Nonprofit Spotlight: 🐾 Pawsperity🐾 🌟

This week we’re excited to highlight Pawsperity, the nation’s ONLY nonprofit grooming school — and a life-changing organization founded right here in our community. We’re so proud of the incredible work their founder is doing to create opportunity, stability, and hope for families in Kansas City.

Pawsperity trains parents facing hardship to become professional pet groomers while providing wrap-around support like life-skills coaching, financial literacy, and case management.

In addition to the traditional ways to support a non-profit (monetary donations, volunteering, sharing their story on social media, etc.), you can also support them by booking services for your furry friend! From a nail trim, to a bath and brush, to a full groom, the students at Pawsperity are ready and waiting to take great care of your best friend.

Happy 🌟OFFICIAL🌟 Giving Tuesday!

As our Giving Tuesday series continues, and the weather turns ❄️colder❄️, we’re highlighting Project 10-20, Johnson County’s ONLY cold-weather shelter for adults without children experiencing homelessness. Throughout the winter months, they provide warm meals, a safe place to sleep, and compassionate, judgment-free support for anyone who needs it.

Aside from monetary donations, there are many ways you can help:
• Volunteer your time — the shelter relies heavily on community volunteers.
• Donate essentials — winter coats, gloves, sweatpants, toiletries, and other basic needs are always in high demand.
• Provide a meal — individuals, families, or groups can sign up to prepare and drop off dinner for shelter guests.
• Spread the word — sharing about Project 1020 helps both potential volunteers and people in need find them.

Together, we can help keep our community safe, warm, and cared for this winter. 💛

Did you know that the founder of KC BlueCrew also founded a local food pantry in Leavenworth, KS?

This Tuesday, we're excited to highlight Community Pantry who helps fight food insecurity with both self serve pantries and holiday meal deliveries- with Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner, now is the perfect time to help them in their efforts to deliver full holiday meals to families in Leavenworth County who may otherwise go without.

This Tuesday, Nurse Laura is repping Mission Driven and On A Mission KC !

On a Mission KC shines a light on long-term shelter dogs—those waiting the longest and most overlooked. They also provide rural shelters with critical resources and empower their teams to build sustainable support, so every dog can be seen, loved, and adopted.

Mission Driven sells pet-themed apparel and goods for dog and cat lovers, with the proceeds being channeled into On a Mission KC. They are sadly closing their doors at the end of this year, but you can still grab some adorable swag that helps local animals: https://missiondrivengoods.com

🐾 🐈 🐾 🐈‍⬛ URGENT HELP NEEDED 🐈‍⬛ 🐾 🐈 🐾

We were planning to highlight local non-profits every week in November and December, but are starting early after some terrible news. Help Humane, a local cat shelter in Belton, experienced a fire yesterday at their shelter. Thankfully, because of quick action and bravery by volunteers and staff, all the kitties (and staff) are safe, but they are in URGENT NEED of help.

We are hosting a BLANKET DRIVE at the clinic to help replace all the linens they use to keep the cat spaces warm and clean (which were all lost due to smoke damage).

If you've been meaning to clean out your linen closet, now is the purrfect time! Please bring any gently used (or new) throw blankets, larger blankets, etc. to our clinic any time during business hours and we will get them to the shelter and kitties in need out in foster care.

The shelter also needs (new or gently used):
🐾 cat beds
🐾 dog beds
🐾 fabric huts/cubbies

Help Humane is near and dear to our hearts at Health Suite 110- Nurse Laura recently helped complete a renovation to their CH (wobbly kitten) room to make it safer for the special needs residents, and Olivia, Nurse Sandra's daughter, loves to visit and play with the kitties.
