Today, our crew had the opportunity to participate in a large-scale mock disaster exercise alongside students from Pittsburg State University School of Nursing and local first responders.

These simulations bring together multiple agencies to recreate high-stress, mass casualty scenarios, giving future nurses and current providers the chance to practice triage, teamwork, and rapid decision-making in a controlled environment.

Because when the real call comes… there’s no rehearsal.

At HealthSTAR One, we’re proud to partner with the next generation of healthcare professionals and help bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world critical care.

This is how we stay ready.

PITTSBURG, Kan. - (KOAM) - Pittsburg State University nursing students gained real-world emergency response experience during a mock disaster training exercise that brought together future healthcare professionals and seasoned first

Happy Certified Nurses Day! 🩺💙

Certified Nurses Day was established by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to recognize nurses who demonstrate advanced knowledge, clinical skill, and a commitment to lifelong learning. It’s celebrated each year on March 19th, honoring the birthday of Margretta “Gretta” Madden Styles, a pioneer in nursing certification.

In the flight environment, certification isn’t just an achievement, it’s a standard.

Our flight nurses are required to obtain and maintain their Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) credential as part of our CAMTS (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems) accreditation. Most of our staff hold more certification than what is required!

CAMTS accreditation is the gold standard in medical transport, ensuring that programs meet rigorous safety, education, and clinical care standards.

Today, we recognize the hard work, sacrifice, and relentless pursuit of excellence that certification represents.

To our certified nurses, especially our flight nurses, thank you for raising the standard and for the care you provide when it matters most. 💙🚁

🚁 Quarterly sim lab with our friends from LifeStar 1 and LifeStar 2!

We first completed some chart reviews and case discussion followed by two patient scenarios:
👶 Pediatric anaphylaxis
❤️ Cardiogenic shock requiring pacing

Always learning, always sharpening the skills that matter most for the communities we serve.

➡️ Which scenario do you think would be the toughest to manage in the field?

⏰ Daylight Saving Time Reminder ⏰
Don’t forget to set your clocks forward tonight… which means we all lose an hour of sleep.

For most people: mild inconvenience.
For night shift crews: a personal attack.

To everyone working tonight..may your coffee be strong and your calls be calm. 🚁☕

🚁 Help us celebrate Women in Aviation this week!

Strong. Skilled. Mission-focused.

From the cockpit to the patient’s side, women play a vital role in every flight. Their expertise, dedication, and compassion help ensure our crews are ready when seconds matter most.

Today we recognize the women who continue to lead, innovate, and save lives in aviation.

There are so many other women un-pictured that serve along side of us on our HROB and NICU teams that we would like to recognize as well!

We’re proud to have them on our team.
