We help families and caregivers manage challenges related to mobility and daily function. We offer support groups for conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, amputation, and even one specifically for caregivers. Patients and their loved ones can attend these support groups where they hear from other’s experiences, learn about available resources and know they aren’t alone. Our hospital Case Managers assist our patients and loved ones to prepare for their return to their community with the resources they need to enjoy life at the fullest.

Colder weather can make it harder to stay active and healthy, especially for those managing chronic conditions. Keep moving with light indoor exercises, eat balanced meals, and stay hydrated. Support your immune system by getting enough rest and avoiding close contact with anyone who’s been ill. Small steps can make a big difference in your winter wellness!

It’s that fun time of year with holiday events and social gatherings. However, it’s also flu season. We recognize National Influenza Vaccination Week, and our hospitals follow all state and national guidelines for vaccine administration and tracking for our employees and our patients. As available, we also offer influenza and pneumococcal vaccinations to our patients. We ask our team members to wear masks if they can’t be vaccinated, and we encourage all of our visitors to refrain from visiting if they have recently been ill or currently have any flu symptoms.

Supporting patients also means supporting the families who are often the caregivers. Caregiver education, resource connections, and emotional support are all part of our discharge planning to ensure the patient’s loved ones feel confident and equipped every step of the way.

Martha’s story is a powerful reminder of the impact caregivers make every day. After her husband suffered a traumatic brain injury, her plans for an advanced degree and writing career changed overnight. She stepped into a full-time caregiver role, learning to navigate doctor’s appointments, therapy sessions, and life’s unexpected challenges. Out of her experience, Martha founded Caregiver Coffees, local support groups that now meet across Louisiana, offering guidance, encouragement, and a warm cup of coffee.

We’re honored that Caregiver Coffees in Shreveport partners with one of our sister hospitals, Shreveport Rehabilitation Hospital, to provide resources and communities for caregivers.

We’re so thankful for this heartfelt review from Larry, who shared his experience with us:

“I came to the hospital with a broken arm and a boot on my heel, not able to get around well. After being here, I learned how to take care of myself and be mobile. All the staff have been fantastic, and the food is also great. If you are in need of physical rehabilitation, this is the place to go!”

We’re so proud of our dedicated team who brings this level of care and compassion to every patient, every day. Our patients are highly satisfied—over 80%-according to our patient satisfaction surveys!
