It’s Nurse Practitioner Week, and today we are celebrating the last but not least of our three incredible nurse practitioners who care for our patients with expertise, compassion, and heart! 💙

Meet Megan McGown, who has been part of our PCS family for 8 years! She became a nurse practitioner because she has always had a passion for caring for people and especially loves caring for children, which is why her favorite part of pediatrics is establishing relationships with patients and their families, and watching them grow up.

When she’s not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and pets, baking, exercising, shopping, and get this - fishing! 🎣

Thank you, Megan, for everything you do to keep our patients happy and healthy. Please show Megan some love and appreciation below! 👇

➡️ Thank you for following along this week as we featured all three of our wonderful Nurse Practitioners. 💕

It’s Nurse Practitioner Week, and we’re celebrating our three incredible providers who care for our patients with expertise, compassion, and heart! 💙

Today we are spotlighting Ashley Meyer, who has been a part of our PCS family for 5 years. Ashley says her inspiration in becoming a nurse practitioner was the opportunity for career advancement and hope for more flexibility combined with the setting of pediatrics where she gets to watch kids go through all the stages of childhood and adolescence.

When she’s not in the office, you can find her spending time with her family and she loves the mountains, antique stores, plants, coffee, winter, old country music, and all things midcentury!

And, let's not miss the surprising fact that Ashley has won her neighborhood's Christmas light contest 3 years in a row! Fingers crossed this year will be #4! 🤞🏆 But, she is worried about her chances this year after having to grudgingly switch to LED bulbs from her old fashioned lights because she was blowing too many fuses!🎄

Please join us in thanking Ashley for her compassion, dedication, and commitment to caring for children every day. 💕 And, wish her luck with her lights this holiday season! 😆

It’s Nurse Practitioner Week, and we’re celebrating our three incredible providers who care for our patients with expertise, compassion, and heart! 💙

Today we are spotlighting Amy Higgins, who has been a part of our PCS family for 4 1/2 years. She became a nurse practitioner because she wanted to broaden her knowledge and take compassionate care to the next level as a provider, and says her favorite part of pediatrics is watching kids go through all the stages of childhood and adolescence!

When she’s not in the office, you can find her spending time with her family and running her flower shop! 💐🌺

Please join us in thanking Amy for her compassion, dedication, and commitment to caring for children every day. 💕

Stay tuned this week as we feature all three of our amazing Nurse Practitioners, and please show them some love below! 👇

Last night, Dr. White, Dr. Wichman, Nurse Jill and their guests had the honor of attending the annual Fall Ball fundraising event for Infant Toddler Services of Johnson County, an incredible community partner we refer patients to each week. 💛

The stories shared reminded us just how special this organization is — going far beyond the expected to support families in need. From home visits at any time of day (sometimes even at breakfast!), to joining families at doctor appointments, school meetings, and even birthday parties, their dedication knows no bounds.

We were deeply honored to be recognized with the Top Tier Provider Award 🏆 — a humbling acknowledgment of the strong partnership between our teams. As Dr. White shared in her remarks, “Because of our relationship with Infant Toddler Services, we can tell our patients they are not alone — we have these wonderful people to support them in their time of need.”

We are so grateful for this organization and the life-changing impact they have on families in our community. 💕

🦠 Weekly Illness Update from Pediatric Care Specialists

As we enter into the sick season, we want to share a quick look at what’s going around— nationally, in KC and right here in our office!

Here’s what we’re seeing as of last week:
✅ Flu: Very low levels nationwide and locally
✅ RSV: Still minimal activity, but on the rise nationally
⚠️ Croup: Increasing in our office

Good news overall, but we encourage parents to keep an eye out for that telltale “barking” cough of croup and check out our website for tips on when to call the office, walk-in or schedule a visit: 👉 https://www.pedcarespecialists.com/medical-conditions/Croup-Infection
