More patients are finding it helpful to have access to their health care provider's electronic clinical notes, which summarize the information from medical visits. Also known as "open notes," these may include test results, diagnoses details and treatment options. Many cancer centers are making the notes and test results available to patients through the electronic health portal. Ask for details about how to access this information.

These volunteers can truly understand what living with cancer is like, and they have a lot of wisdom to share from their experiences. Throughout November, people are encouraged to learn more about joining registries to donate their stem cells and bone marrow to help others. Minority donors are especially needed. Donors between the ages of 18 and 35 are also in high demand because research shows younger donors offer the best chance at a successful transplant.
