💭 “You have control.”
It’s a phrase we use often in lifestyle medicine — meant to inspire hope and empowerment.
But here’s the truth...
👉 To someone rebuilding their health after cancer, managing fatigue, or facing financial stress — those words can land differently.
“You have control” can sound like hope to some… and like judgment to others.
💡 Empowerment isn’t just about information — it’s about access, compassion, and capacity.
Because not everyone starts from the same place.
When food costs rise 🍎, healthcare gets harder to afford 💸, and energy feels scarce 😔— we have to shift from prescription → to partnership.
Lifestyle medicine isn’t about perfection.
It’s about progress that feels possible. 💜
For my survivor and thriver community, I would love to hear your experience and thoughts around this post.
🩵 Clinicians and coaches — how do you lead with empathy when encouraging behavior change?
🌱 Individuals who have experienced cancer - If you’ve ever felt that “do more” advice didn’t fit your reality, what kind of support would have helped instead?
