Chair yoga in our Wellness Center is a wonderful way for residents to build strength, reduce stress, and support better sleep. Every Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., you’ll find residents coming together to focus on both mind and body.

Our skilled yoga instructor thoughtfully adapts each session to meet the needs of residents across Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Skilled Nursing, ensuring everyone can participate safely and confidently.

Join us tomorrow for the Lynn Zimmer Quartet, presented by the Heller Bettinger Series!

Jazz clarinetist Lynn Zimmer leads a seasoned quartet performing early New Orleans jazz and classic standards from the 1930s and ’40s, drawn from the Great American Songbook. The group held a long-running engagement at Dick Hawk’s Gaslight Grill in Leawood, playing five nights a week for eleven years. Zimmer also performs with Kansas City’s New Red Onion Jazz Babies and the KC Dixieland Band, and has toured with legendary artists including Clyde McCoy, Turk Murphy, Al Hirt, and Boots Randolph. Together, the quartet brings decades of experience to lively performances spanning swing, blues, and classic jazz from this Golden Era.

Village Shalom’s Heller Bettinger Music Series brought the joy of live jazz to Memory Support with an engaging performance by saxophonist Doug Talley and pianist Charles Williams 🎷🎹.

We were especially honored to have Dr. Irene Bettinger in attendance, who danced with residents and brought even more energy and joy to the room 💃. Some residents even showed off a few impressive moves of their own!

Moments like these remind us of the power of music to spark connection, movement, and pure joy 🎶💙.

Join us tomorrow for Scott Bales performance presented by the Heller Bettinger Music Series!

Scott is a lifelong piano player whose repertoire spans a wide range of piano genres, offering both musical depth and variety. He has also recorded an original CD titled Heading Home. Frequently by his side is Brewster, his French bulldog, who often accompanies him to performances.

Residents in Memory Support celebrated the new year with a festive party of course. We reminisced about the many blessings this past year has brought us and residents mentioned blessings such as our friends & family, being alive to see another year, that we are living a happy life, and are surrounded by each other. 💙

Our recent Wellness Center Open House was a great way to bring new and familiar faces back to the Wellness Center here in the Village! With the new year upon us, it's a great time to get back into healthy habits and find your way into fitness classes, water aerobics, or other fitness fun! This year, Barry Krigel was awarded our 2025 Wellness Champion with the most wellness classes attended, way to go Barry!!

We look forward to seeing everyone crushing their fitness goals with our Wellness Team in 2026. 💪👟😃

Marlene Katz took residents back in time last week with music by Grinder Switch for her second annual holiday special featuring the history of Minnie Pearl along with classic holiday songs. The Gerson Social Hall was filled with holiday cheer and around 85 residents were in attendance for this fantastic performance!

Thank you, Marlene & Friends for putting on such an amazing performance for everyone in the Village to enjoy. 😃

It's Sunday Funday! 💫

Don't forget to take a few minutes today for a bit of fun!! Lynwood was spotted skydiving through the Swiss Alps & swimming with the great whites with the help of our Mynd VR glasses. He absolutely LOVED these adventurous experiences and can't wait to try more of what virtual reality has to offer. 🪂😎🏔️
