►► Prairie Elder Homes: A comforting alternative to traditional institutional care. Passion and commitment is our homes’ foundations

Prairie Elder Homes are not corporation-owned or one of a hundred chains. Our homes are managed and run by Mandy and Michala, two women committed to continuous learning and seeking the most proven, best practices used to care for and engage people living with dementia. They hire skilled caregivers who share their passion for learning and attend training on a regular basis.

>> Prairie Elder Homes Offer Residential Memory Care Second to None

Prairie Elder Homes offer care that is second to none—a bold statement, but one you can believe. Here, we strive to fill our residents’ days with meaningful activities matched to their interests and functional level. Activities focus on creating positive feelings of accomplishment.

>> Residential Neighborhoods & only 6 to 8 residents for personal care

Our homes are located in residential neighborhoods, which help our residents adjust to a new setting because it’s much like their own homes. The setting is intimate with only six to eight residents, and we consider it their home. Through building trusting relationships with family, each of our residents is treated and cared for as an individual. We pay attention to and care about the details of your loved one’s history, preferred routines and lifestyle. At Prairie Elder Homes, their days and activities are too. One of the unique features you will find in a Prairie Elder Home is the >>Snoezelen Approach> Premium, personalized shouldn’t come only at a premium price

You want the best memory care for your loved one. And price shouldn’t be an obstacle. Everyone deserves dignity and loving care. That’s why Prairie Elder Homes are comparably priced to “institution” facilities. Our all-inclusive monthly fees include:

There is something about reaching out and patting a dog on his head, scratching his soft belly, or looking into their sweet little eyes. And science agrees. The impact dogs have on humans is very real.
At Prairie Elder Care, we witness the magic regularly as residents engage with our therapy dog, Hank. He is a mini goldendoodle who loves nothing more than visiting and connecting with our residents, staff, day program clients, and the students in our community programs.
Studies show interactions for people living with dementia have several positive impacts such as increases in sense of wellbeing, curbs aggressive behaviors, sparks verbal communication, improves social connections, and triggers memory.
Dogs provide a natural, but powerful therapy. The benefits are positive and authentic. Our residents are proof of that♥️.
We sure do love our dog, Hank.
And as we pat his head and rub his ears, give him peanut butter crackers, and stare into his dreamy brown eyes; we know he loves us too.

PEC Friday Flash⚡️
What a week! We loved discussing Groundhogs Day and making groundhog treats on Monday. We did several therapeutic coloring activities, made Valentine boxes for the farmhouses, and had our hair done by Robin💈💇‍♀️. We did a heart mosaic painting project with Shae and staff, mark Harmon led Friends in Faith, and Delano’s visited for drumming🥰. Karen entertained on guitar, we designed a winter sweater, and we danced💃🕺🏽. Anna entertained us with her piano music, we danced some more, and we jouned in with musical instruments♥️. On Friday, the BV CAPS CNA students were in the houses connecting with the residents. The residents look forward to Fridays as you can tell from their big smiles. We also went on walks, visited the farm animals, enjoyed the fresh air and soaked up some sunshine ☀️.

Such a fun-filled week! We started the week with live music by Mike. He filled the farmhouses with music and songs🎶. Shae did a neat Fabric Angel Project. It was fun to work with different fabrics. The angels turned out really cute! We made snowmen, celebrated Kansas Day🌻, and did some puzzling on National Puzzle Day🧩. We did a patch quilt project, enjoyed valentine crafting, and played brain games to jog our noggins. We made Apple Cinnamon Donut Cake. It smelled so good baking in the houses and tasted delicious with a warm cup of coffee 🥰. We ended the week with our new CNA class from Blue Valley CAPS. The students will be with us every Friday this semester. We love connecting and interacting with the students, and the students love the residents♥️. Of course Hank, the PEC dog is always in the mix. He loves visiting the residents and staff. 🐶♥️
