►► Prairie Elder Homes: A comforting alternative to traditional institutional care. Passion and commitment is our homes’ foundations

Prairie Elder Homes are not corporation-owned or one of a hundred chains. Our homes are managed and run by Mandy and Michala, two women committed to continuous learning and seeking the most proven, best practices used to care for and engage people living with dementia. They hire skilled caregivers who share their passion for learning and attend training on a regular basis.

>> Prairie Elder Homes Offer Residential Memory Care Second to None

Prairie Elder Homes offer care that is second to none—a bold statement, but one you can believe. Here, we strive to fill our residents’ days with meaningful activities matched to their interests and functional level. Activities focus on creating positive feelings of accomplishment.

>> Residential Neighborhoods & only 6 to 8 residents for personal care

Our homes are located in residential neighborhoods, which help our residents adjust to a new setting because it’s much like their own homes. The setting is intimate with only six to eight residents, and we consider it their home. Through building trusting relationships with family, each of our residents is treated and cared for as an individual. We pay attention to and care about the details of your loved one’s history, preferred routines and lifestyle. At Prairie Elder Homes, their days and activities are too. One of the unique features you will find in a Prairie Elder Home is the >>Snoezelen Approach> Premium, personalized shouldn’t come only at a premium price

You want the best memory care for your loved one. And price shouldn’t be an obstacle. Everyone deserves dignity and loving care. That’s why Prairie Elder Homes are comparably priced to “institution” facilities. Our all-inclusive monthly fees include:

♦ Three home-cooked meals plus snacks always available
♦ Safe and secure environment

PEC Friday Flash✨
This week was filled with science, songs, sweets, and students. We did a Magic Spoon excitement with Kurtis🥄,helped prepare meals and made brownies. We did a cool Paper Collage with Lisa, we did a Magic Milk experiment with Kurtis, and enjoyed live music with Mike🎶. Our PEC veterans visited all the houses. They talked about Veteran’s Day and their experiences. We were happy to honor them all🇺🇸. We made homemade peach cobbler and pies, went to the Grandparent’s reading program in Mrs. Sherwoods class at Stilwell Elementary♥️, and helped in the kitchens👨‍🍳.
We enjoyed live music with Richelle🎸, doing art projects, and visiting the PEC Day Program. We ended the week with Farm Fridays🐔, the CNA students are a pleasure to have onsite. Michelle King from the ALZ Association worked with the students💜,
Ray visited the houses and played his harmonica, and Kurtis ran a “ Plunco” game with prizes🏆.

Allyson & Lisa got an early start to their Monday. They are attending the Blue Valley Advisory meeting. The guest speaker is Dr. Randy Watson, KS Department of Education. Then they are off to collaborate and advise the Exploring Health Professions, CAPS Medicine Strand. This is just another way Prairie Elder Care is committed to their residents, their staff, the dementia community, and the youth we welcome weekly to the Farmstead who are tomorrow healthcare workers. 🏆♥️
BTW-the number one job needed in KS? Healthcare workers.

We have fully thrown ourselves into Fall🍁🎃. We are enjoying jumping in and helping bake away. We made apple turnovers and cinnamon pull apart to start the week. The weather has been lovely so we are visiting the neighbors, walking Hank the PEC therapy dog 🐶, and taking walks ourselves. We loved on Hank in the houses, did some pretty cool science experiments with Kurtis, and helped around the houses. The PEC Men’s Group met at the Lakehouse this month. Thank you to Mark Harmon who led the group in spiritual study. ⛪️Conversation, coffee, and donuts were enjoyed. And the men all looked pretty spiffy in their ties.👔We sat on the porches, visited Mrs. Sherwoods class to do reading with the students. A highlight of our week for sure!📚 We enjoyed National Donut Day🍩
(Thank you Ascend Hospice for the donuts!), delicious Fall season lunches, and made homemade pumpkin bread with Kurtis🎃. The houses all smelled of Fall spices.🍁 We ended the week with Farm Fridays and the CAPS students in all the houses♥️,
outside time, and ended the day with happy hour🍻.

PEC Leadership took to the woods (Chicken & Pickle) for a little “glamping” tonight to strategize end of year and brainstorm and goal set for Q1.
The PEC Leadership team has a blend of strengths that, when combined, allow for a strong cohesive team that can make amazing things happen. It’s not magic that delivers the highest level of healthcare for our residents. It’s not by accident that PEC leads the pack in dementia care and brain health awareness. It’s not easy to hike with families as they navigate the many challenges and obstacles of being caregivers. And then through the placement and care of their loved ones. And let’s not forget our amazing staff. There are trainings, drills, and high standards of care to be achieved. No one wants to be caught in a canoe without a paddle! That’s why time to brainstorm, discuss, review, and revise is a must. It’s goal setting, ex*****on, communication, and commitment. It’s being able to use your compass to stay on track. It’s getting back to camp(or ending the year)with your flashlight shining bright knowing there are delicious s’mores to enjoy. We can’t wait to finish 2025 strong and we look forward to all the amazing things in store for PEC in 2026. 🔥🏕️🍁🥾🛶🔦🗺️🧭

PEC Frightening Friday Flash👻
Its been a frightening week around the farm. Mike played live music at all the houses on Monday. Farm West made the cutest acorns, we heloed preoare meals, and we helped make meals. On national Chocolate Day we bsked chocolate cupckes and had a dance party with Mike Ashley entertaining us. We had our annual haunted house decorating contest. It was very fun. Farm West took 1st place. We danced, played games, and baked. The PEC Leadership Team, I mean the “Spice Girls”,passed out candy to residents and staff and checked out the oumpkibg that Kurtis and the residents catved. We worked with Mary from Prairie Health. She’s so fun to work with. Fidays at the Farm was a day filled with the CAPS students learning, helping with cares, and trick-or-treating the residents. Thsnk you to Ascend Hospice for providing the pizza’s for the residents haunted lunch. Happy Halloween to all.🎃🍁

We had such a fun day competing for the best haunted house. Each house participated with everyone involved, including the care team and the leadership team. They are all good but there can only be one winner…..

PEC Friday Flash✨
Even though the week ended with a rainy day, there were lots of bright spots in the week. ☀️Fall Baking is off to a great start! All things apple and pumpkin. The houses smell of cinnamon, nutmeg, and all things Fall.🍁Farm East was busy engaging and connecting all week. Today the didn’t even turn the tv on until mid afternoon they were so busy! Farm East enjoys arts, crafts, and music. 🎨 🎶 They really have very talented residents. Dan planted a tree in remembrance of our Farm East friend, Don. It was so nice to see his family again.♥️
Of course, Hank had to go spread love and joy to his residents. He is such a cute, smart, loving dog. 🐾🦴We are all pretty crazy about him! Kurtis entertained the residents with some fun and interesting activities this week. Never a dull moment! Farm West staff had several activities up their sleeve this week! The residents love spending time together around the table, and the FW care team know how to have fun! Kurtis led a cooking interative lesson “All About Chilli”. It was fun sbd the chilli was delicious! We are so thankful for Prairie Health KC and their super therapist. They do an amazing job working with our residents.🏆 Of course, every week we look firward to filling the houses with music. This week we enjoyed Eric Wray Jazz and Richelle entertained with fun music, instruments, and dancing dan! We enjoyed an ice cream outing, being in Mrs. Sherwoods class for the reading program, and dancing whenever we felt like it. 💃🕺🏽
