And what is it we mean by losing it? Our temper? tolerating what we no longer have the capacity for? Our ability to keep doing all of it all the time? Our ability to restrict what we eat? To be quiet?
I’ve been there. My patients have been there. My girlfriends have been there.
It happens premenstrually, in pregnancy, postpartum, in perimenopause and menopause (where I’ve personally felt this edge of my mind!). And it happens sometimes - just because.
I believe it’s not madness at all. It’s the weight of emotions too big to contain, truths too wild to silence. It’s the body screaming for release, the mind unraveling under the strain of being “good,” “calm,” “in control.”
The truth is, anyone can feel they’re losing their s (https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/i/?hl=en)!. The mind and body are one—one imbalance, one trigger, and life as we know it shifts. Neuroscience confirms it. But what if this “madness” isn’t something wrong inside of us - the rage, the edge, the self wanting to be free is a reckoning? Maybe it’s a a return to something deep, primal, something real? To our deepest, truest, wildest selves.
Maybe we aren’t afraid of losing control. Maybe we’re afraid of what happens if we finally let go.
So good to be back with you as I slowly ease into socials, and as always keep it real!
