For Patient Experience Week, we want to highlight one of our amazing team members and the great work they are doing, not only for our company, but more importantly for our clients.

Andria Gray, Executive Director for East Washington and North Idaho won the 2025 Quality and Leader of the Year Awards!

This is what some of her team members had to say about her:

“Andria is not only committed to quality initiatives and requirements for her region but also to the entire AWC division. She is an active member of several committees where provides valuable feedback and ideas to support our division. Andria is an initiative-taker and ambitious person who sets high standards, is authentic, and is an example for all of us. Thank you, Andria!” said Rebecca Hunter, VP, Quality Support and Clinical Audit.

“She understands 100% every aspect of our business. There is not a job that she could not step into and just take on. I have watched her grow so much in the past few years; how she has learned to pivot when something was not working to brainstorm an improved plan. She has such deep appreciation for what her branches have done to meet the overall goals of her region and the company. She never wants to take credit away from her team members who work directly with our clients, but what is important to note is that she has been the driver of all those accomplishments, so I will be giving her that credit anyway. Andria is an incredible leader and an example of exactly what our company needs in an Executive Director,” said Laurie Balo, AVP Washington and Idaho.

Thank you and congratulations, Andria, on all your accomplishments in 2025!

We are proud to announce that Direct Support Professional (DSP) Wanda Renee Newkirk has received the 2026 DSP of the Year Award for Georgia from the ANCOR American Network of Community Options and Resources.

Wanda is an outstanding advocate for her clients and truly goes above and beyond for them.

After surviving a devastating house fire that left her injured and displaced, Wanda could have taken time to step back. Instead, she stayed in touch with the families she supports and returned to work as soon as she was able. Not long after, she completed a demanding apprenticeship and earned her DSP III designation — another step in a career defined by a commitment to person-centered care.

When one woman wanted to manage her own money, Wanda realized the goal required stronger math skills. She advocated for additional learning tools, then spent time each day practicing number recognition and basic calculations. By understanding the whole person and meeting them where they are, Wanda helped guide her toward greater financial independence.

Wanda was honored at the ANCOR Connect ’26 Conference in Boston that took place this week April 21-23, 2026.

April is Celebrate , started in 2004 to recognize and honor the diversity surrounding us all. It is a time to recognize and understand our differences, be it gender, race, ethnicity, faith, sexual orientation, and other factors, while honoring the common essence of humanity. By appreciating our similarities and differences, the month aims to get people to foster a deeper understanding of others, regardless of who they are, what they are, or how they live.

It’s also an opportunity to increase diversity in the workplace – within the AWC team, let’s use this month as an opportunity to learn from one another, celebrate our unique perspectives, and strengthen connections, building a more inclusive and supportive community together.

The root of all the world’s problems is the refusal to appreciate others. It is natural for humans to fear what they don’t know. Thus, celebrating Diversity Month pushes us to seek this knowledge so that we can build a tolerant world that welcomes everyone, regardless of who they are or where they come from. It's a time to recognize and celebrate the beauty of our unique cultures, backgrounds, and traditions.
