Sometimes the only defense against and is focusing on something that brings us joy. I have a fascination with Bigfoot, Sasquatch, skunk ape, or yeti. I have been to the Bigfoot museum in Georgia and over the weekend I visited the Skunk Ape Research Headquarters in Ochopee, Fl. You may think I’m silly, but I enjoyed it.

When we are communicating with our spouses or significant others, it is critical we don’t lose sight of the conversation in an effort to be right. Once the discussion moves past the topic at hand and becomes a conversation about who is right and who is wrong, it’s already over. Stay on topic, don’t lose the forest for the trees.

It isn’t always easy to face our ‘issues’ but running away from them never solves them. Sometimes we need a helping hand, a friend, someone we trust to help keep us moving in the right direction. Who can you count on when you want to run away?

Sometimes the best course of action is compromise. This is Goose. He is wild. We have compromised and we let him chew his bones on the back of the couch. Likewise, in our marriages many times compromise is the only way to solve a problem. We need to learn to listen to each other’s perspectives and make adjustments to our own when appropriate. Find a compromise to solve the solvable. Not all hills are worth dying on.

Sitting at MCO on our way to Kansas City for a couple days for a business trip for Ronda, that we are going to tag team as a mini birthday getaway. I’m lucky to have her in my life and I look forward to celebrating many many more birthdays with you. HBD, Ronda! 🍰🎂

It sounds counterintuitive, but to help overcome using behavioral activation techniques we have to remember action precedes motivation. We take action before we ‘feel’ like taking action. Pushing through the lack of motivation with action pushes through the depression.

I am not one to get ‘start struck’ but I have to admit when I saw Coach Corso at Lake Destiny soccer fields, I became giddy like a little child and threw decorum to the wind and ran up to him, apologized for bothering him and told him I couldn’t let him go without a photo… to which he happily obliged. won’t be the same without him, college football won’t be the same without him. Not just as a coach and celebrity but as a stand up guy who is just a good guy. Enjoy your rest and maybe I’ll run into around town again.
