It might help to know that whatever negative impact trauma has had on the brain, mindfulness and meditation have a positive impact on the very same regions. The brain heals over time with appropriate intervention.

I want to extend my appreciation and gratitude to everyone connected to The Hazel Counseling Center in the past months. To the wonderful people we have worked with and the dedicated therapists and staff who have continued to support our community. We have faced challenges and asked many questions. I believe that this is easier to do when we can do it together. I hope this Thanksgiving holiday will allow you to take some time to connect with those dearest to you. Wishing you love and kindness.

When you find yourself stuck in “freeze mode”, try naming 5 things that you can control right now. “I can go outside, I can choose what I eat, I can call a friend, etc…”. Also try listing your senses and what you notice right now. "This is what I smell, feel, hear, taste, touch.”

Celebrating over 10 years serving the Oviedo and Winter Springs area! We are here to help with your counseling needs.

The search for a counselor is an important step. At The Hazel Counseling Center, PLLC, we offer specialized counseling services to give you support and help you through the steps of resolving emotional distress. Our therapists treat each age group from very young children through different stages of adult development. Treatment areas include but are not limited to: anxiety and depression, trauma, addiction recovery, stress management, family conflict resolution, relationship building and more. Approaches specific to each age group are used to get the best results from your sessions. For adults this might include talk therapy, education specific to your concerns, increased understanding of how the mind and body work together for the greatest sense of well being, or joint sessions with loved ones to resolve conflict and address issues. For children and teens therapy might include play therapy, activities designed for parents and children to resolve conflict and restore structure, or use of creative and expressive materials to make opening up easier and more productive. As client-centered therapists, our goal is to help you find a safe and caring environment to address what is causing distress and suffering in your life. In addition to finding a safe place to approach what is bothering you, we have specialized training for a longer lasting resolution. Using integrative therapy approaches and techniques, we will address long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that are holding you back from experiencing a more compassionate and meaningful life. If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation, increased self-understanding, or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, we look forward to working with you to achieve your goals. Please call or email for an individual, child, or family therapy consultation today. 407-365-1199
