🗞️ Breaking Health Insight: Your Gut Might Hold Clues to Trauma Recovery

A new review from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health highlights strong links between PTSD, diet, and the gut microbiome.

Researchers discovered that individuals with PTSD show distinct gut microbial signatures compared to those who experienced trauma but didn’t develop PTSD.

What does this mean?
🧬 Your gut health may influence how you process and recover from stress and trauma.
🍎 Diet and lifestyle choices could play a bigger role in trauma resilience than ever imagined.

This emerging science confirms what holistic practitioners have said for years — healing the gut can help heal the mind.

💭 Did you know trauma doesn’t just live in the mind it also affects your gut?

Recent research published in Frontiers in Neuroscience and PubMed reveals that people with PTSD often have unique gut microbiome patterns — meaning trauma can literally change how your gut functions.

Scientists found that trauma can:
🔸 Disrupt healthy gut bacteria balance
🔸 Increase inflammation throughout the body
🔸 Alter neurotransmitters that regulate mood and stress

In short — the gut and brain are in constant conversation. When trauma affects one, the other responds.

💡 The good news? Rebuilding gut health through mindful nutrition, therapy, and lifestyle support can help regulate mood, calm the nervous system, and restore balance from the inside out.

Your brain is made of nearly 60% fat — so it’s no surprise omega-3s play a huge role in mood, memory, and emotional balance. 🧠💧

When your body’s in “fight, flight, or freeze” mode, inflammation rises and your brain’s fatty acids deplete — making it harder to feel grounded.

💧 Omega-3s help to:
🔹 Improve mood and focus
🔹 Support brain cell repair
🔹 Reduce inflammation
🔹 Promote calm and clarity

You’ll find them in salmon, flaxseeds, and walnuts — or try Optimal EFA

When betrayal shatters your trust, it can feel impossible to find peace again.
But healing doesn’t always start with grand gestures sometimes, it starts with quiet moments of faithful connection. 💛

“Really praying through the day, talking with my Heavenly Father as though He is walking around with me all day.” - Angela's reflection during The Worth Group Betrayal Summit

Faith becomes more than belief. It becomes companionship. A steady presence reminding you:
You are safe. You are seen. You are still worthy.

🕊️ Today’s reminder:
Healing isn’t about being strong all the time. It’s about staying connected even when it feels messy.

When your body’s been running on survival mode, your energy and focus aren’t the only things that fade, your B vitamins take a hit too.

💊 B Vitamins are the nervous system’s best friend.
They help:
🔹 Support energy metabolism
🔹 Regulate mood & neurotransmitters
🔹 Improve focus & mental clarity
🔹 Reduce anxiety & fatigue

You can fuel up naturally with leafy greens, eggs, lentils, and avocados but when stress is high, sometimes food alone isn’t enough.

That’s where Optimal B Awake
comes in — a gentle, bioavailable formula designed to bring your energy, focus, and calm back online. Click the link to learn more: https://www.optimalhealthsystems.com/products/optimal-b-awake

When you’ve experienced trauma, your body can stay stuck in “fight or flight” even when you’re safe. 🕊

But here’s the hopeful truth: the right nutrients can help rewire your nervous system toward peace.

🌿 Omega-3 fatty acids reduce inflammation and improve mood regulation.

These nutrients work like nature’s therapy grounding your body so your mind can rest.

Did you know your gut produces up to 90% of your serotonin — the “feel good” chemical that stabilizes your mood and helps you feel calm? 🌸

That’s why the gut is often called your second brain. When the gut is inflamed or imbalanced (often due to stress, trauma, or poor diet), it can impact your mental health — causing anxiety, brain fog, or even emotional numbness.

At Full Spectrum Holistic Health, we approach trauma recovery from the inside out. By supporting the gut with healing foods and mindful habits, we help your body rebuild the biochemical foundation of peace. 🥦✨

Try these gut-nourishing habits:
🌿 Add fermented foods (like sauerkraut or kefir) for good bacteria
💧 Drink bone broth to repair your gut lining
🍋 Manage stress — meditation and breathwork support gut repair

Your gut holds emotional memory — healing it means freeing yourself from old patterns of fear and fatigue.
You deserve a body that feels safe again. 💚

Do you ever feel anxious, irritable, or emotionally drained even when life seems “fine”?

Here’s something most people don’t realize: your blood sugar directly impacts your emotional balance.

When you skip meals, rely on caffeine, or reach for sugary snacks, your body experiences spikes and crashes. These fluctuations don’t just affect energy — they also affect your mood, focus, and stress response. Over time, this instability keeps your body in survival mode, which is especially challenging for those healing from trauma.

At Full Spectrum Holistic Health, we teach clients how stabilizing blood sugar can bring more calm, clarity, and control back into their lives. 🥗

✨ Simple ways to start:

Eat protein with every meal (it slows sugar release)

Avoid skipping breakfast — fuel your brain early

Stay hydrated; even mild dehydration can mimic anxiety

Healing trauma isn’t just emotional — it’s biological. When your body feels balanced, your mind can finally exhale. 💚

🕊 Rebooting and Building Bridges

Borrowing from Elder Stevenson’s counsel, I invite you to “pause and reboot.”

That might mean taking a breath, journaling, or stepping into your greenhouse to regroup.
“Rejuvenating, replenishing, nourishing, in your greenhouse.”

Remember President Nelson’s counsel to “stop and cut it short” whenever contention arises.

“Before responding in the heat of emotion, pause and ask, ‘Is this going to build a bridge?’”

If not, wait. Pray. Journal. Let the Spirit lead. Repair requires restraint — the sacred willingness to be still long enough for peace to return.

Repair is not about perfection — it’s about partnership with the Savior.

It’s about showing up, yearning, and trying again.
It’s about holding space for others while the Lord holds space for you.

“We really can overcome all things through Christ.” — Philippians 4:13

Repair is not about perfection — it’s about partnership with the Savior.

It’s about showing up, yearning, and trying again.
It’s about holding space for others while the Lord holds space for you.

And if you still aren’t sure how to navigate betrayal trauma, you don’t have to do this alone, reach out to healingwithworth.org
