QPR for Fairfax Fire-Rescue-Ambulance 🚒🚑

On November 3rd, 18 new Gatekeepers were trained in QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) — an evidence-based suicide prevention program that teaches how to recognize the warning signs of suicide and how to help.

Ever wondered why you sometimes see EMS teams out in the community, not just answering 911 calls, but meeting folks at events or schools? Public outreach is a huge part of what we do! When EMS teams connect with neighbors, we help build trust and encourage open conversations about safety, health, and emergency response. These moments let us answer questions, offer training like CPR, and show that EMS is here for everyone, not just in emergencies. Every handshake, every chat, and every community event makes us stronger together.

So next time you spot your local EMS crew out and about, come say hi! It’s all about building a stronger, safer community( together.) 🚑💙
