The Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center is thrilled to introduce our new CEO, Carrie E. Wimsatt!

Carrie takes the helm at WKRBC with a breadth of professional experience in public health. She previously served as director of the Medical Laboratory Science program at Owensboro Health, one of WKRBC's partnering medical providers. Carrie also possesses a graduate certificate in nonprofit administration, a master's degree in public health, a bachelor's in medical technology, and certificates in blood banking and medical laboratory science.

Under Carrie's leadership, upon the 45-year legacy built by former CEO Janet Howard and with the help of our amazing donors, WKRBC will continue to grow its excellence in service to western Kentucky and meet the crucial blood needs of our area's 10 medical providers across 11 counties.

"While completing my Medical Laboratory Science Clinical Internship my senior year of college, I was introduced to the world of Immunohematology and the science behind the Blood Bank. Blood Bank instantly became my favorite subject and department in the laboratory. I have finally landed my dream job and I am honored to be the incoming Chief Executive Officer for the Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center."

If you are type O Negative, we ask that you give as soon as possible. If you do not know your blood type, it will be typed upon donation.

Make 2026 the year you start saving lives! At WKRBC, your local blood center, your donated blood supplies local medical providers and treats local patients in western Kentucky.

If you start this month, you can donate blood six times in the year. That's 18 lives you personally can save! ❤️
