This time last week, our friends were on the dance floor at the Spring Fling, hosted by the Opportunity Center of Owensboro — and it was a day to remember.

This event brings together individuals from agencies across our community, creating a space to connect, celebrate, and enjoy time with friends both old and new. Opportunities like this are so important, allowing our clients to build relationships beyond our walls and feel part of something bigger.

And if there’s one thing our friends love, it’s a chance to dance. The energy, the laughter, and the joy on the dance floor said it all.

We’re grateful for community partners like the Opportunity Center for creating spaces where connection and celebration come together so naturally.

We are incredibly grateful to First Christian Church for their generous support of Puzzle Pieces through a recent grant award.

This funding will help address important needs across our campus, including improving accessibility, enhancing safety, and increasing efficiency in how we deliver care. From more accessible entryways to upgraded security and improved systems that support our staff, these enhancements will directly impact the daily experience of the individuals and families we serve.

Since 2012, Puzzle Pieces has grown to support more than 400 children and adults, and with that growth comes a responsibility to ensure our environment reflects the dignity, safety, and quality of care our clients deserve.

We are thankful for partners like First Presbyterian Church whose commitment to compassion, inclusion, and service helps move our mission forward in meaningful ways.

What a weekend at Louisville Slugger Field. ⚾ 🧩

Puzzle Pieces was honored to be part of the Louisville Bats’ Autism Awareness Kids Opening Day, and it was a day our team and clients will not soon forget.

We are incredibly proud of Kayla for singing the National Anthem, and of Jahmiah, Arvle, and Executive Director Amanda Owen for representing Puzzle Pieces on the field with the first pitch. These moments showcased the confidence, talent, and abilities of the individuals we serve in front of an entire stadium.

Events like this are so meaningful to us. They give us the opportunity to share our mission with the community and highlight what inclusion truly looks like — the perfect way to wrap up Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.

A special thank you to the Louisville Bats for the opportunity, and to Wright Implement Co. for making this experience possible. Your continued support and belief in Puzzle Pieces helps create moments like these that our clients will carry with them.

Some of our BCBAs had the opportunity to attend the Association of Professional Behavior Analysts conference in New Orleans, where we explored important conversations shaping the future of our field—public policy, clinical practice, community and social issues, clinical work in schools, supervision and training, and leadership.

Conferences like this allow us to stay current, think critically, and continue improving the way we serve our clients, families, and communities. We’re excited to bring these insights back to our team and the people we support.

At Puzzle Pieces, our mission is to create opportunities for inclusion and to help others better understand and support individuals with disabilities. Ballin’ in the Boro was intentionally designed to do just that—using the platform of sports to teach young athletes that what happens off the court matters just as much as what happens on it.

This photo captures that mission perfectly. Brody, who has autism, is the younger brother of Mason, a player from TSI—and the team’s biggest fan. When the team invited Brody to receive the championship trophy, it became a powerful moment of inclusion—one that speaks louder than any scoreboard.

Afterward, Brody and Mason’s dad shared that this experience meant the world to their family and that they were grateful for the opportunity to share it with Brody.

This is why we created Ballin’ in the Boro. Not just for competition, but to create moments like this—where every individual feels seen, valued, and included.

This weekend, Ian Powers is representing Team Kentucky Flag Football at the Special Olympics International Games in Nashville — and we couldn’t be more proud.

Ian has a full day of competition ahead with four games on Saturday, and he’s been preparing for this moment with intention and support. Like all of our divisions at Puzzle Pieces, our Therapy program takes a whole-life approach to services. Our very own Director of Therapy Services Ryan Kizer, has worked closely with Ian to improve his mobility and agility, helping him maximize both performance and recovery heading into this weekend.

Opportunities like this are a powerful reminder of what happens when ability is supported, strengthened, and celebrated.

We’ll be cheering you on, Ian — go represent Kentucky! 💪

Ballin’ in the Boro was a huge undertaking as a first-time event — and it would not have been possible without the 125+ volunteers who showed up and stepped in wherever they were needed.

They stepped in wherever they were needed, adapted quickly to last-minute changes and location shifts, and brought a level of energy and enthusiasm that carried the entire event.

From early mornings to long days, their willingness to serve, stay flexible, and give their time so generously is what made this event such a success.

We are incredibly grateful to live in a community that shows up, gives back, and believes in the mission of Puzzle Pieces.

Thank you for making Ballin’ in the Boro possible. 💙
