Steven Craig Peak “Steve”, 64 of Owensboro, left this world peacefully on October 12, 2025. He was surrounded by and held close in the hearts of his family as he passed on to join his loving brother, Roger, in heaven. He was born in Owensboro on May 5, 1961, and was the beloved son of the late James Roger Peak and Ella (Mayes) Brown.

Steve had a sweet soul and an even bigger heart. He was someone you could always depend on. He never met a stranger and made everyone feel like a friend. Steve had a deep love for cars and could often be found reading the Messenger-Inquirer from front to back or kicking back to some classic rock ’n’ roll. In fact, he and Roger are probably rocking out to AC/DC right now. A dedicated and hardworking man, Steve gave 22 years of service to Fields Packing Company. He also proudly served his country for several years in the National Guard.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Steven Andrew Peak; sisters, Sharon Hardison (Chris) of Alabama, Rita Tooley (John), Debbie Peak (Maurice), and Kathy Martin (Roger); brothers, Gary Peak (Kim) and Thomas Sims (Joni). Our family would not be complete without mentioning Roger’s wife, Krystal Peak, and we fondly mention his nieces and nephews, whom he always had a joke for, as well as his favorite uncle, Dickie Peak.

The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the nursing staff at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital who did everything they could to make him comfortable. Thank you, Dr. Haria and Dr. Maryam Saleem. To Dr. Tamberly McCoy, who gave him the best care possible, answered our endless questions patiently and comforted our family beyond measure, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. To Tyler Samaras, you meant a lot to Steve. We wish you the very best. To his neighbors and friends Pam and Mike Johnson, we appreciate your always being there for him.

Last but certainly not least, we thank our sister, Debbie, who never left his side, stood her ground to get him the best care and loved him unconditionally. How could we ever really thank you? There are no words. Our family asks for your prayers as we heal.
