What our country and the world is going through at this time is unprecedented in our lifetimes. Not since WWII has there been this level of disruption to our everyday lives.
The COVID-19 pandemic is a very serious matter and I would encourage everyone to heed the advice of our leaders. Regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, political affiliation or socioeconomic status we are all humans and we need to take care of humanity. We really need to set all prejudices aside and just take care of each other.
There is a lot of misinformation in social media and in the mainstream media and often times it's difficult to determine what is the truth. My advice to you would be to listen to what the scientists are telling us. Politicians have a tendency to spin facts and what we have to do is respect the opinions of the doctors that are the experts.
We can't trust the numbers and information that comes out of totalitarian regimes like China and Iran. The information about COVID-19 that is coming out of Europe and from our own country is the most reliable information.
What's happening in Italy and Spain is a two to three weeks ahead of us in the curve. We need to affect our current trajectory and we need to respond with unity. In my opinion the entire country needs to be in lockdown. The entire country of India with 2 billion people is in lockdown. This is the best way to minimize the long term damage.
The devastation in Italy has affected my family personally as we have lost a family member to COVID-19 and have other family members that are hospitalized and are at high risk.
Stay at home if you can. Stay safe. It's not worth losing someone close to you. This is a serious matter with serious consequences.
We will be contacting all of our patients and rescheduling appointments for a couple of months out. We will return to regular hours when it is deemed safe to do so.
The well being of our patients and our staff is our priority. If you have a dental emergency I personally promise that I will be available to you.
We will be contacting each patient with a new appointment time for June or July and we pray that we are back to some sense of normalcy by then.
If you need to contact us please do so through our page https://www.facebook.com/midmichigandental/ or call 989-729-1999 and press 9 for emergency care.
We are using the Zoom app for teledentistry appointments if needed. And in circumstances that are outlined as dental emergencies by the CDC and the ADA we will see patients when appropriate.
Our goal is to manage your dental emergencies, infection and pain medically if possible. That would involve the use of antibiotics and pain medication if possible. If that is not possible we will do whatever we can to help you in your particular situation.
Stay safe and take care of yourselves and your families during this time. We are a great country with great people and together we can all get through this.
God Bless Everyone
