A urinary tract infection is an infection in any part of the urinary system, including the bladder, kidneys, and/or urethra.

Symptoms include pelvic pain, an increased urge to urinate, and blood in your urine or pain while urinating. If infection has reached the kidneys, you may experience back pain, nausea, vomiting, and fever.

Cody Field is a nationally certified Family Nurse Practitioner at MedPlus Family & Urgent Care. She grew up in Cleveland, MS and recently relocated to the Oxford community. Ms. Field began her nursing career 11 years ago upon graduating from Mississippi Delta Community College Associate Degree of Nursing program.

Nearly three years later, she pursued and achieved her Bachelor of Science Degree from Mississippi University for Women. After completion of her baccalaureate degree, Ms. Field continued to work as a Registered Nurse with experience in the Med-Surg, ER, & home-health settings. During that time, she married her husband of five years now; Joshua Field.

In their down time, Cody and Josh enjoy spending time outdoors with their three dogs and visiting with family and friends. They will soon be welcoming their first child in May. After marriage, Ms. Field began working on her Masters of Science in Nursing; and graduated from Chamberlain College of Nursing in 2018. She is certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Ms. Field is looking forward to providing healthcare and education to members and students of the Oxford community.

Strep throat is a bacterial infection that will cause your throat to be sore and scratchy. Individuals typically contract strep throat through direct contact with someone else who already has it. Common symptoms include a sore throat, fever, and swollen lymph nodes in the neck.

It is important to get treatment if you have strep in order to reduce complications. Antibiotics such as penicillin, cephalexin, and amoxicillin are all commonly prescribed in cases of strep throat.
