We finally thought our house was in the clear…
until they got to the kitchen island.
For the past few years, our home has had its share of water issues.
Leaks.
Recalled Pipes.
Repiping.
Floors.
Ceilings.
All of it.
So when we started replacing our floors, I really felt like we were turning a corner.
Everything looked great…
until they pulled up under the island.
Mold.
Hidden.
And because of how my body has responded to mold in the past…
this wasn’t something I could ignore or “wait and see.”
There was a season where my body was extremely reactive.
Pain.
Inflammation.
Symptoms I couldn’t fully explain.
And mold was a piece of that.
So for us, the decision was simple—
the island has to go.
I’m sharing this because I see it so often…
people doing all the “right” things for their health
and still not feeling like themselves.
Sometimes it’s not just internal.
Sometimes it’s environmental.
Mold doesn’t always look obvious.
It can hide under floors, behind cabinets… in places everything looks completely fine.
But your body can still be responding.
Some symptoms that can be connected to mold exposure:
• fatigue that doesn’t go away
• brain fog
• headaches
• sinus issues
• coughing or breathing changes
• skin irritation
• inflammation or joint pain
• hormone imbalance
• anxiety or feeling “off”
• trouble sleeping
• sensitivity to smells, foods, or products
And what makes it tricky is…
you can be doing everything “right”
and still feel like something isn’t clicking.
Sometimes it’s not about doing more.
Sometimes it’s about looking at what’s around you.
Not sharing this to create fear—
just awareness.
Because this was hidden in our home…
and I know we’re not the only ones.
Have you ever dealt with mold… or symptoms you couldn’t quite explain?
