What is that popping sound you hear in adjustments? 🩻

Many people think that the popping noise is what the adjustment is for, but it’s not!

The sound you hear during an adjustment is called ‘joint cavitation’. This sound is the release of gases from the synovial joints as you are being adjusted.

When a joint is gently and specifically adjusted:
- The joint space momentarily increases
- Pressure inside the joint changes
- Gas bubbles rapidly release
That release creates the “popping” sound.

Important to know!
- It is not your bones cracking
- It is not your bones grinding
- The sound does NOT determine how effective your adjustment is

While a good pop is satisfying to hear, it is not the primary determinant of your visit! Our main goal is to restore joint function and relieve unwanted stress on your nervous system!
