As parents, it can be hard to know when normal stress crosses into something more.

Teens and young adults don’t always have the words to explain emotional overwhelm. Sometimes distress shows up as irritability, withdrawal, or changes in behavior. Self-injury is often a coping strategy for intense emotional pain — not a bid for attention.

Early conversations and compassionate support can make a meaningful difference. We offer a wide variety of services to help your child cope effectively.

Lyndsie chose the word Intentional as her word of 2026 ⭐

"In both my personal and professional life, intentionality means redirecting myself to what — and who — is right in front of me. As a clinician, it’s about being grounded and fully attuned. Personally, it’s about choosing connection over distraction. The present moment is where meaningful work and life actually happen"

Let us know what you chose for you word of the year in the comments ♥️

Choosing a Word of the Year can be a powerful way to set intentions for your personal growth and mental well-being.

Unlike traditional resolutions that often focus on strict goals or outcomes, a Word of the Year serves as a guiding theme for how you want to live, think, and care for yourself throughout the year. It creates a gentle anchor you can return to when life feels busy, overwhelming, or uncertain.

Your word might represent something you want more of in your life—like balance, courage, peace, growth, or connection. Each time you reflect on it, you’re reminded of the values and mindset you want to practice in everyday moments.

This approach encourages self-awareness, intentional living, and flexibility, helping you focus on progress rather than perfection.

✨ If you chose a word for this year, we’d love to hear it.

In March, we recognized Self-Injury Awareness.

Research suggests that approximately 1 in 5 adolescents report engaging in self-injury at some point. Many struggle in silence due to stigma, shame, or fear of being misunderstood.

Self-injury is often a sign of emotional overwhelm — not attention-seeking, not weakness.

Compassionate support and early intervention can make a meaningful difference.

If you or someone you care about is struggling, reaching out can be a powerful first step.

School can be stressful for teens in ways that aren’t always visible. Academic pressure, social expectations, extracurriculars, and life changes can all take a toll on mental health.

Support doesn’t mean having all the answers. Often, it means listening without judgment, creating space for open conversations, and knowing when additional support may help.

Teen mental health is a family conversation, and no one has to navigate it alone.
