Stonewater Adolescent Recovery Center

Stonewater Adolescent Recovery Center Stonewater is a privately-owned, 90 day residential program for teens struggling with mental health or substance use.

We use experiential therapies, DBT, academics, family work and purpose-focused programming to help parents get their child back, better. Stonewater is a comprehensive dual-diagnosis treatment center, addressing adolescent needs for Withdrawal Management (Detox) and Residential Care. Our individualized adolescent treatment is built on the latest scientific research and proven techniques to increase the likelihood of successful outcomes. Our founders have been there, where you are now, and understand that your child is an individual who needs a recovery program focused on long term changes - one that provides safety, privacy, security and success. Because adolescents aren’t the only ones affected by their substance use or mental health struggles, Stonewater provides support for families through individual coaching, group therapy and other educational activities to better understand how to provide support throughout recovery. We want to see your child or loved one successful both within our walls and at home, so our programs are designed to promote a sustained, ongoing approach to overcoming issues like anxiety, depression, impulsivity or substance use and re-engaging in life as a family.

Teens are already wired for risk-taking—their brains are still under construction, and impulse control is one of the last skills to fully develop. Add THC to the mix, and that natural vulnerability skyrockets. Cannabis doesn’t just create a buzz; it actively disrupts judgment, slows reaction times, and increases the likelihood of dangerous decisions that can change a teen’s life in an instant.

At Stonewater, we understand this isn’t about “bad kids” or “bad choices”—it’s about a brain that needs guidance, structure, and support. Our residential program gives teens the tools they need to hit pause, think critically, and grow into confident decision-makers

“Just weekends” may sound harmless, but even infrequent cannabis use can affect memory, sleep, motivation, and mental health. THC doesn't need to be used daily to do real damage.

The brain doesn’t care how often you use — the effects can look the same.

At Stonewater, we treat the full picture—regardless of frequency.

Emotionally, ma*****na use can stunt teenagers' development. If you’ve noticed your adolescent acting younger than their age—being more impulsive, less responsible, more reactive—cannabis may be the culprit. Are their responses sometimes disproportionate to the situation? Are they becoming more moody, irritable or verbally aggressive in the home?

Often the emotional impacts of early ma*****na use are not fully understood by parents or teens. We help parents understand those consequences, how to reverse them and how to develop tools that assist with impulsivity, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

It’s not just about the way ma*****na may be impacting your child now. Long-term cannabis use during adolescence can increase the risk of anxiety, psychosis, cognitive decline, and dependence. Parents deserve the full picture.

We’re here to help prevent the future problems that short-term use can create and help parents and adolescents better understand the realities of early ma*****na use.

It may start as a way to relax. But over time, cannabis makes anxiety worse. Teens caught in the stress-w**d-stress cycle need more than a break. They need support. We can help.

At Stonewater, we break the cycle with clinical care, purpose-focused tools, and emotional education. We meet adolescents where they are to effect long-lasting change.

Peer pressure isn’t new—but, for many teens and parents, v**e pens, edibles, and THC carts are. From group chats to house parties, the social script around ma*****na is changing. And ma*****na products are more accessible than ever.

Our teens face intense pressure to use cannabis, and saying no isn’t always easy. Stonewater equips adolescents with the confidence and tools to make healthier choices. And equips parents with the tools and knowledge needed to best support their child with these decisions.

Many teens use ma*****na to feel socially accepted or to mask insecurities. While this may temporarily quiet insecurity, it doesn’t build long-lasting self-esteem or confidence. Stonewater supports adolescents in developing character through therapy, community, and accountability.

The earlier the support, the better the outcome. Addressing ma*****na use early can prevent deeper mental health issues, school failure, or legal troubles. In fact, it’s one of the most loving decisions a parent can make. Stonewater offers structured, developmentally appropriate care—before things continue to worsen.

When cannabis enters the home, communication often breaks down. Ma*****na use can disrupt family dynamics, erode trust, and increase tension. If w**d is fueling conflict in your home, it’s time for an intervention. Whether the school year has started, holidays are approaching or family trips are scheduled, there will never be what feels like a “perfect” time to send a child to treatment.

Stonewater’s family systems approach promotes healing and healthy communication—for everyone.

Teens say ma*****na helps them sleep, but ma*****na actually makes it harder to fall asleep, stay asleep, and truly rest. THC use can interfere with melatonin production, delay REM sleep, and create a cycle of fatigue and irritability in teens. If your child seems constantly exhausted or wide awake at all hours, cannabis use may be disrupting their natural sleep rhythms.

At Stonewater, we help teens reestablish healthy habits and reclaim restorative rest—without substances.

Thank You for an Incredible Night!

This year’s Intended for Good event with Eric Decker and David Magee was a beautiful reminder of the power of community, vulnerability, and hope. Together, we shared stories that matter, sparked conversations about mental health, and came together to break stigma and build support for young people.

To our incredible speakers and every guest who joined us at The Sandy & John Black Pavilion at Ole Miss—thank you. Your presence helps amplify the message that recovery is possible and no one has to face life’s challenges alone.
