🧠 Understanding Your “Window of Tolerance”

Ever feel like you go from totally fine…….to completely overwhelmed in seconds? Or maybe you shut down and feel numb?

That’s your window of tolerance at work.

Your window of tolerance is the zone where you feel calm, balanced, and able to handle life’s ups and downs. Within this window, you can think clearly, manage emotions, and respond instead of react.

But when stress pushes you outside that window, you might experience:
⬆️ Hyperarousal: anxiety, anger, panic, feeling out of control
⬇️ Hypoarousal: numbness, disconnection, low energy, shutting down

The good news? Your window can grow.

With the right tools and support, you can:

Therapy is calling. Are you ready? 📲

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. It’s normal to feel nervous, unsure, or even a little overwhelmed when beginning something new. But starting therapy is also a powerful act of self-care. It means you’re choosing to understand yourself better, to heal, and to grow.

You don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin. You don’t need the “perfect” reason. If something doesn’t feel right, that’s reason enough.

Therapy is a space where you can:

Doing what you love isn’t just enjoyable, it’s good for your mental health!

When you make time for activities that bring you joy, your brain releases feel good chemicals that can help reduce stress, improve mood, and increase motivation. Whether it’s painting, running, gardening, cooking, or spending time outdoors, these moments of joy help recharge your mind and body.

Life gets busy, and it’s easy to push the things we love to the bottom of the list. But prioritizing activities that bring meaning and happiness can improve emotional well-being, build resilience, and remind us who we are outside of our responsibilities.

Even small moments doing something you love can make a big difference. Your mental health deserves that time. 🫶
