End of week 3 of training.
Cold, drizzly morning run with my girl.
Messy, stressful week but still showing up.
Recovery week for me (no strength) which I find is not easy for me.😬
Sleep has been tough so really focusing on trying to get quality sleep.
On to a build week!

Beautiful, bright 4 mile recovery run this morning wrapping up week 2 of ultra training.
Life didn’t make it easy this week. A lot going on with family.
I had to be creative in getting training in including strength with early mornings(which are my usual) and splitting runs just to get them in.
Running is more than just training. It’s how I manage stress, how I calm my mind and how I feel like myself again.
Take care of yourself.
Set a goal, even if it feels a little scary and go get it!!!

Another 5 today after yesterday’s 10 miles. Slowly building back to back weekend runs into longer and longer runs over time. The mental gymnastics that goes on in my mind is ridiculous but I didn’t listen!😂🤪 Having Luna with me always helps!🖤🐾
Rest day tomorrow and repeat again and again and again.

Got to walk this sweet boy today who has been waiting at the shelter for way too long! Total lapdog who has to be touching his human because he just loves that much but at the same time goofy and always ready for an adventure! Cyrus will make someone very happy! Hoping the right person sees him soon!💚

Cyress (white and brown brindle) and Duke (hound) have been at the shelter for quite some time. They were both so happy to go for walks and enjoy the beautiful weather! Lots of exposure to other dogs and snowmobiles and both did great! They truly are the sweetest dogs!💙💙 Hoping they find their forever home soon!

Training for a 100 miler while in this stage of life is going to be very different even from a year ago!

Honestly, this stage is no joke!!

Symptoms:
-Migraines/nausea
-Achy joints upon waking up that usually settle after some movement.
-DRAINED!!!
-Forgetting words.
-Sleep (waking up and not able to fall back to sleep)
-Motivatiion (lack there of)
-Overwhelmed
…just to name a few.

These symptoms have been slowly creeping in.

So, this means adjusting and adapting.

Some days (actually most days lately)I am adjusting training according to what my body is feeling whether it’s lowering intensity, volume or both and adding in MORE recovery days. I do mobility EVERY DAY and it helps. CONSISTENCY!! Continuing when it’s not ideal or perfect!
Sounds like a lot of work and it is but it is so worth it! It’s not about the goal but about the process of who I was and who I’m becoming.

Until then I will keep adjusting, adapting and learning.

Grateful for what my body can do both past and present even when it looks different.💛

Join me! Monday mornings for a strength class for women who want to feel strong in their bodies as they age.
We’ll focus on foundational strength - the movements that help you feel strong, capable and independent for life!

This isn’t a burner or a fast-paced class. It’s slow intentional lifting that supports bone density, metabolism and everyday strength where you, yes you, will be tracking your weight with a simple tracking sheet as we go so YOU can see your strength grow!

Whether you’re new to strength training or getting back into a routine, I’ll meet you where you’re at!
You’ll learn good form, build strength safely and walk out feeling more capable than you knew!💚
