Welcome and John Christopher to the new line-up of amazing teachers at Southern Star!

Deja will begin teaching a Candlelight Strong & Slow Flow (heated) at 7pm on Mondays (TONIGHT!).Deja Samuel (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist and yogi whose offerings emphasize mindful movement, embodied presence, and meeting yourself exactly where you are. Her classes invite students of all levels to slow down, connect with the breath, and explore the union of heart, mind, and body within a supportive and sacred space.

John is happy to take over the Saturday morning 9:15am window offering Kundalini Yoga, which is a unique practice involving breath work and movement to awaken energy. John Christopher is an integrative and energy focused teacher whose classes bring together movement, meditation, and breath. His class offerings are intended to help students raise healthy energies through the chakra system into places of support and integration. In his classes, energy will be roused through the spine from root to crown as we tune in together and practice movement, mantra, and breath together in a comfortable community space.

TONIGHT 7pm!!! We have a few spots left for the sound journey experience tonight with Alex Ballew & Alexa Shackleford. This sound bath meditation is like no other. The studio will be filled with deep tones from gongs, vibrations from singing bowls, drums, didgeridoos, rain sticks, bells, chimes and more. Drift into the stillness below the mind and access the parasympathetic nervous system for an opportunity to let go, rejuvenate, feel grounded and become deeply relaxed. Participants have an opportunity for emotional revelation, a chance to connect with themselves and ultimately tap into their innate ability for self healing.

We have three upcoming events in October!!! Join us for a Yin Yoga Workshop, our seasonal Ayurvedic cleanse, & a free Community Candlelight Yoga class to honor Diwali, the Indian Festival of Lights

Sat. Oct. 4th @ 11am-1pm: Intro to Yin Yoga with Jessica. Yin is a slower form of Yoga where the poses are held for longer periods of time to bypass the muscle and work the connective tissues and joints.

Sat. Oct. 4th, 10:00am-1:30pm: We will kick off our Fall Cleanse with an Introduction to Ayurvedic Cleansing & Cooking class at Mary’s house. Learn how to use your diet to heal and create community to support you through a seasonal digestive cleanse.

Sunday, Oct. 19th, 6:30-7:45pm: Come celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights, with a 75 minute Candlelight Yoga to the soothing sounds of the sitar with .
The Festival of Lights is meant to represent the triump of light over darkness (goodness over evil). This is a free Community class but we ask for a $5-10 cash donation for the musician and one warm, new or gently used children’s clothing item to donate to United Way’s Mobile Clothes Closet. 🪔
