Grateful Patient Connection: Heath Kelly
Heath Kelly came to the Emergency Department at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in November with chest pain and dizziness. The McCullough-Hyde Emergency Department team responded quickly. To stabilize Heath’s ventricular tachycardia, the team shocked his heart three times.
Heath was air-flighted to Bethesda North Hospital where he was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, a genetic heart condition where the heart muscle becomes abnormally thick. A defibrillator was consequently inserted.
“I want to thank the doctors, nurses and staff for saving my life. You never expect to be lying there on that table, but I sure was glad they were there when I needed them most. Their compassion and concern for me being a community member, went beyond just being a patient. We are lucky and blessed to have McCullough-Hyde in our backyard”.
Saying thank you is a meaningful way to make a great impact. The McCullough-Hyde Foundation’s Grateful Patient Connections program gives patients and families the opportunity to recognize a caregiver or team member who made a difference in your care or the care of a family member with a donation in their honor and/or a special note of thanks. Donations made through Grateful Patient Connections support the mission of the McCullough-Hyde Foundation through the purchase of specialized equipment for McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital.
