Kaizen Counseling in Oxford, MS is launching an exciting new group designed just for neurodivergent youth who want to connect, build confidence, and have fun while learning social and communication skills that make everyday interactions easier and more enjoyable.

Each week, we’ll explore topics like making and keeping friends, teamwork, self-advocacy, managing emotions, and reading social cues — all in a supportive, understanding, and totally judgment-free space. Through games, creative activities, and real-world practice, group members will build lasting skills and friendships!

We often hear messages about becoming our “best self” through independence and self-reliance — but as Dr. Sue Johnson reminds us, real growth happens in connection.

Humans are wired for closeness. When we feel emotionally safe and supported, we’re better able to explore, take risks, and heal. It’s not weakness to need others — it’s part of being human.

Therapy can be one of the places where that connection begins — a space to rebuild trust, learn to reach for others, and discover that you don’t have to go through life alone.

Cultivating equanimity involves practices like mindfulness, cognitive reframing, and acceptance, leading to greater resilience and inner peace.
