Francis P. DeVine was a devoted Funeral Director and community leader. He dedicated his life to service, integrity, and reputable business practices. Married to fellow Oyster Bay native Dorothea, Francis founded the funeral home in 1946 and served his community faithfully until his passing in 1999.

Community was so important to him! Francis was a 30 year member of Oyster Bay Fire Company and served on its Benevolent Board. He was a past president of the Oyster Bay Rotary Club, a director of the Oyster Bay Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. His legacy of service and compassion continues to define our funeral home today.

Anne Davies Evans was born on November 23, 1936, and passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026. She was the devoted wife of 63 years to William (“Bill”) Evans, who predeceased her. She was the loving mother of Carol Evans and Kathryn Evans Bernstein, mother-in-law of Kenneth Bernstein, and grandmother of Daniel and Emily Bernstein. She and Bill were fun-loving aunt and uncle to their five nieces and nephews. Her beloved brother Robert C. Davies predeceased her.

Anne grew up in Little Neck, NY, in a home full of music and laughter. Her parents, Anne Collen Davis Davies and Robert Emerson Davies, led the youth choir at the Community Church of Little Neck and sang professionally in churches throughout NYC. Anne and her brother kept busy exploring the woods near their home, playing ball, practicing piano, and sailing in a small wooden sailboat on Little Neck Bay.

Anne graduated from Saint Lawrence University with a major in English and a minor in math. A lifelong Anglophile, after graduation she spent a summer in the Midlands, England with the Experiment for International Living.

Anne and Bill moved to their home in East Norwich in 1963 and truly loved the small, close-knit community of Oyster Bay. Anne is remembered as an inspiring and enthusiastic teacher, who knew the names of all the young people in the community. She taught remedial English and English as a Second Language at Oyster Bay High School for many years. She then went on to teach math at East Woods School. For her daughters, Anne was their first and most cherished teacher.

Together with Bill, Anne transmitted her adventurous spirit and love of nature to all who knew her. Whether it was exploring the woods in Connecticut, discovering the first snowdrops in her backyard, or hiking the hills of Los Angeles searching for lupines, she taught us all to be open to new undertakings. For years she volunteered at the library in Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay and was an active congregant at the First Presbyterian Church of Oyster Bay.

Interment at Locust Valley Cemetery will be private. A Celebration of Life service will be held in May at the First Presbyterian Church of Oyster Bay.

Donations in Anne’s honor may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Oyster Bay, 60 East Main Street, Oyster Bay, NY, 11771, or to the Planting Fields Arboretum Foundation, https://plantingfields.org/annual-fund/.

Throwback Thursday — remembering a moment from the late ’90s with Karen DeVine-Taglia, Newsday columnist Ed Lowe, and college Joe Noll at a Nassau-Suffolk Funeral Directors meeting. Karen served on the board for many years; we honor the memory of Ed and Joe, who are sadly no longer with us. Grateful for their friendship and contributions.

We celebrate the life of Tamer Ozkan - a beloved family man, coach, loyal friend, and steady mentor whose love for his people defined him.

Born in TĂĽrkiye, Tamer built his life in New York with his wife, Shelly, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and purpose. They were married for 42 years, and his two sons, Tyler and Justin, were his greatest pride. He leaves behind many friends and relatives whom he loved deeply and who loved him in return.

After a hard and courageous battle, Tamer succumbed to cancer, facing his illness with quiet strength and grace; which was his way.

Tamer spent years on the field, playing alongside teammates and sharing his lifelong love of soccer. Known for his integrity, leadership, and dedication, he left a lasting impact on everyone he coached. Soccer was more than a game to him—he taught teamwork, resilience, discipline, and heart, lessons that extended far beyond the field and into the lives of those he guided.

He had an extraordinary generosity of spirit. Tamer never hesitated to help—no matter the distance, the time, or the size of the request. He made people feel supported, seen, and cared for in a way that was rare and deeply meaningful.

For over 30 years, Tamer was a dedicated business owner who treated his employees and business partners with fairness, respect, and kindness. He believed in doing right by people, and many who worked with him considered him not just a boss, but a mentor and friend.

Tamer could do anything—and did. He loved projects, especially in his backyard. He was endlessly curious, always sketching ideas and imagining what he could build

In lieu of donations or flowers, the family asks that acts of kindness be done in his spirit, as he so often did for others.

A devoted husband, father, coach, boss, and friend, Tamer will be remembered forever in our hearts
