💜 “If I take any more pain medicine, I can’t drive my car.”

When one of our patients shared this, it stopped us in our tracks.

He was in his late 40s, living with stage 4 lung cancer, and his pain was an eight out of ten. But for him, driving wasn’t just transportation — it was independence, dignity, and control.

At Haven Hospice, moments like this remind us why our work matters.

Hospice care isn’t about taking control away.
It’s about listening, honoring what matters most, and ensuring every patient has a voice in their care.

No one should have to choose between comfort and dignity.

At Haven, we walk alongside patients and families with compassion you can trust — delivered by clinicians who truly care.

💜 Because how you live still matters.

At the Springfield Business Journal Healthcare Champions ceremony in which Hunter was receiving an award for his amazing work as our Hospice Admissions Nurse, Hunter Douglas gave a speech that was funny, heartfelt, and exactly who he is at his core. Thoughtful, humble, and deeply committed to the people he serves. Then, right at the end, he closed with, “May the Force be with you.”

That’s when we realized he is a full on Star Wars fan.
So naturally, a custom T shirt had to happen.

Because hospice work takes compassion, courage, steadiness, and heart. Qualities you don’t always see, but you feel every day in the way Hunter shows up for patients, families, and our team. The shirt may be playful, but the respect behind it is very real.
Hunter, we are incredibly proud of you and grateful to work alongside you.

The Force truly is strong with this one.
